Alvear reconstruction with Titanium Mesh
Abstract
Optimal implant positioning oten requires sot and hard
tissue augmentation procedures either or unctional, es-
thetic or prognostic reasons. The development o new bio-
materials and growth actors bio-molecules has brought
to a new youngness the use o titanium mesh or alveolar
bone reconstruction. This classic technique is suitable or
being used either with the traditional grating proceduresor with non space-making collagen sponge soaked with
liquid growth actors. In addition, the advent o CAD-CAM
technology in reconstructive surgery planning and stere-
olitographic models production has made the diagnostic
and therapeutical steps simpler and more predictable.
The aims o this course are to give a up-to-date oriented
overview o the titanium mesh reconstructive technique,
rom the diagnostics to the sot tissue plastic surgery and
mesh removal, with the support o exhaustive lectures, a
Live surgery and a Hands-on session.
The course is organized or a limited number o partici-
pants, grouped in a single class, in order to have the chanceto interact during all the phases o the teaching sessions.

Abstract
The course on sinus foor elevation will provide basicknowledge on anatomy o the maxillary sinus and on adja-cent structures. It will give the participant an overview on historical deve-lopment o dierent surgical techniques or optimization obony quality and quantity in the posterior maxilla.Factors infuencing the proper patient selection will be pre-
sented and discussed as well as indications and contraindi-cations or dierent techniques. Two main techniques lateral window sinus lit and tran-salveolar sinus lit will be presented step-by-step and indetails. Briefy, modications o them will also be addres-sed. Furthermore, most requent and most serious compli-cations will be illustrated, including tips and tricks to pre-vent and to resolve them.Course will provide theoretical ramework, live surgeriesand hands-on exercises. Abstract
All interventions on the bone tissue have been carried out
till now with some rotating instruments to support the sur-
gical round burs, the surgical cylindrical burs or the bone
cisels.
The ultrasonic surgery or piezo surgery accounts or the in-
troduction o a new equipment o bone surgery aimed atreplacing the rotating instruments at short term.
This method, which optimizes the saety and reduces the
ollowing interventions, has rapidly ound its place in the
disciplines linked to the bone surgery: rom the support to
the dental extractions to the advanced techniques o bone
grating and pre-grating reconstructions.
We shall study the principles and the use o that instrument
and then, through some slides and videos o our clinical
experience, we shall evaluate the advantages coming rom
the piezo surgery.
On Friday aternoon we shall do two live surgeries with the
use o piezo surgery.
On Saturday the participants will use the piezo surgery on
the animal jaw or a dental extraction, some bone gratings
(blocs and shavings), a crest expansion, a sinus lit, ect.

Advanced course in periodontal regenerative surgery
Abstract
Periodontitis is a chronic disease that lead to the deve-lopment o gingival pockets and bony deects. Bony de-ects are classied according to their anatomy in horizontal(corresponding to suprabony pockets) and vertical (corre-sponding to inrabony pockets).
The reasons or the ormation o gingival pockets, togetherwith the etiology o the inrabony deects will be discussedduring the course. At the same time, participants will acqui-re the knowledge about how to make diagnosis and howto classiy the bony deects.
The principles o Guided Tissue Regeneration will be ex-plained and their surgical application (and why and howto preserve the interdental papilla) will be showed throughthe use o slides and videos. Participants will also acquirethe knowledge on how to classiy and make the correctchoice on biomaterials (both bone grat and membranes)to use in GTR.On Friday aternoon a surgery session will ocus the topicso the theoretical lessons, and participants will have thepossibility to watch a live surgery o inrabony deects on
a periodontal patient. Saturday morning, an hands-on ses-sion will close the course. On animal models participantswill create bone deects, manage the sot tissues, ll the de-ects with biomaterials and suture the fap under the directsupervision o Dr. Cardaropoli.
