Laneville ISD is proud to report that they have met accountability from the Texas Education Agency with an over-all score of an 85 (B) and received six out of seven distinctions. Distinctions received were Academic Achievement in ELA/Reading, Math, Science, Social Studies, Comparative Academic Growth where they ranked #2 out of 40 other schools in their campus comparison group, and in Postsecondary Readiness. The last distinction of Comparative Closing the Gaps was only missed by three points. Laneville ISD is extremely proud of the staff, students, and community in their help in receiving this honor. In addition, Laneville ISD also received the rating of Superior, which is the highest level, on their Financial Integrity Rating System of Texas report. This is a school’s financial accountability rating system that ensures that Texas public schools are held accountable for the quality of their financial management practices.
Laneville ISD Board of Trustees have called for a $4,274,300.00 bond for the November 6, 2018, election. The bond will include secure entryways at the two main points of entry, fencing around the campus, a new cafete-ria, a wireless microphone system for the gym/auditorium, new covered walkways from building to building, covered bus loading, and new furniture. It would also include renovating the Ag shop, Life Skills room, High School, Jr. High, Administration building, and Technology building allowing the Head Start and Pre-K stu-dents to move out of the portable building. The old rock building will be completely renovated into classrooms for the elementary students. The old cafeteria, elementary building, and auditorium will be demolished due to age and structural issues. This bond will increase the $1.17 tax rate by $.38. Voters 65 or older will not see an increase over the frozen levy on their homestead exemption. Other exemptions may include people with disa-bilities or Disabled Veterans/Veterans Survivor. Early voting will be at the Laneville Administration Office from Tuesday, October 23 until Friday, November 2 from 8:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. and at the Rusk County Elec-tions Office from October 22 until November 2 from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Election Day will be on Tuesday, November 6 with voting from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Overton Community Center, Chandler Street Church of Christ, Old New London Community Center, Centre Presbyterian Church, Stewart, Henderson Civic Center, Minden, Mt. Enterprise Community Center, S. Main Church Multi-Purpose Building, Carlisle, and the County Barn Pct. #4. Please call 903-863-5353 if you have any questions.
Dear Parents/Guardians: On behalf of the staff at Laneville ISD, I am happy to welcome you to the 2018-2019 school year! I’d like to recognize our students’ achievements throughout the 17-18 school year by earning SIX academic distinctions from TEA. We look forward to a productive partnership with you to ensure our children can continue to achieve their highest potential. We acknowledge that in order to be successful in school, our children need support from both the home and school. We understand a strong partnership with you will make a great difference in your child’s education. As partners, we share the responsibility for our chil-dren’s success and want you to know that we will do our very best to carry out our responsibilities. To-gether we shall guide and support your child’s learning by ensuring that he/she attends school daily, ar-rives on time, and is ready for the day’s learning experience. In addition, please encourage our children to complete the assignments given by teachers, read daily to develop a love for reading and to improve liter-acy skills, and share school experiences with you so that you are aware of his/her school life. Please let us know if you have any questions or concerns. You may contact me via email at tremontj@lanevilleisd.org or 903.863.1214. The wonderful Laneville staff and I feel privileged to be a part of this school family. We thank you for your support and look forward to the 2018-2019 school year! All my best, Mr. Tremont
From the Superintendent’s Desk Laneville ISD has implemented the “Jesse Lewis Choose Love Movement” program district wide Pre-K through the 12th grade. The program was designed after six-year-old Jesse Lewis was killed in the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting in 2012, along with 19 of his classmates. The program is a social and emotional learning program that
teaches educators and their students how to choose love in any situation and helps them become connected, resilient, and empowered individuals. These skills, tools and attitudes have proven to be the best way to ensure a healthy, meaningful and purpose-filled life. Jesse Lewis’s mother, Scarlett Lewis, designed the program which is based upon the belief that although we cannot always choose what happens to us, we can choose how to respond. Children can learn to choose a loving thought over an angry one. When a child realizes that they have the power to positively impact themselves, as well as those around them, it is empowering and perpetuates their actions and interactions.
The motto is Courage + Gratitude + Forgiveness + Compassion
= The Choose Love Equation.
For more information about the program go to www.jesselewischooselove.org.
Laneville ISD will be working in connection with Highway
Patrol officers who will be visiting our campus periodically to
become more of a visible presence, just as a precautionary
safety measure. Please do not become alarmed if you happen
to see a highway patrol car at the school or highway patrol
officers on the campus. They just want to become more visible
at the school and in the community.
Parents you are now able to add money to your child’s lunch account for any “extras” they may want to purchase in the cafeteria through our website. Go to our homepage at www.lanevilleisd.org and click on the word “Cafeteria” located in the black diamond. Then click on “lunchmoneynow” where you will need your child’s three-digit lunch number to create an account. Money can directly be deposited into your child’s account. You can also view exactly what your child purchases with the money.

From First Grade to Counseling…
My name is Jessica Owens, and I am excited about my new position as school counselor. I live in Cushing, Texas with my husband, Jo-seph, and our three boys Landon, BR, and William. I previously taught first grade at Laneville for 3 years. Before I came to Laneville, I taught Special Education, Pre-K, and Kindergarten. As the school counselor, I am here to support students, parents, and the school staff! All stu-dents should be given the op-portunity to meet their full potential academically, so-cially, and in the development of a career. I am thankful for the opportunity to be a part of the lives of all the students in Laneville ISD. Please feel free to stop by my office and introduce yourself anytime.

Cafeteria
Manager My name is BJ Washington and I am the new cafeteria manager here at Laneville. I was born in Beaumont, Texas but moved to Henderson at a young age where I was raised. I have been married to my high school sweetheart for 22 years. We are blessed to have 3 wonderful children; Chey, Kobe, and Kara. My old-est son, Chey, is 21 and currently serves our country in the United States Marines (which I am very proud of). He is currently stationed in Cherry Point, North Carolina. My youngest son, Kobe, is 19 and has just started his second year at TJC. He is working toward becoming a physical therapist assistant. My daughter Kara is 13 and in the 8th grade at Henderson Middle School. She plays volleyball, basket-ball, softball, and runs track. Family time is very important to me. So my spare time is devoted to spending time with my family. My husband and I also serve as youth ministers at our church, Lake-view Baptist. Before coming to Laneville, I worked for Henderson ISD. I believe that working in child nutrition is my calling. It is a very rewarding profession and I absolutely love what I do every single day. I am very excited to be part of the "FAMILY" here at Laneville ISD.
Jennifer Jourdan
