American Association of Critical-Care Nurses Region 3 Newsletter February 2017
In This Issue Page 1 Chapter Succession Page 2 National News Pages 3 - 5 Regional News
Dear Region 3,
Anticipating spring, many chapters are recruiting and nominating candidates for spring board and officer ballots. Here is some information with a little help from my good friend Angela Benefield (Region 19’s CAT):
Succession Planning: Is Your Chapter Prepared?
“Failing to prepare is preparing to fail” - John Wooden
What Does it Mean?
It is a vital component to chapter’s success and sustainability. Each member of the board leadership, and in fact, every chapter member should be actively
engaged in identifying and mentoring future leaders for the chapter. It is not an end of the year activity. It is an ongoing activity to ensure there is a strong pipeline
of future leaders. Effectively done, succession planning is critical to mission success and creates an effective
process for recognizing, developing, and retaining top leadership talent.
Succession planning is a systematic approach to building a chapter leadership pipeline/talent pool to ensure leadership continuity.

Frequently asked question:
Question:
Are we allowed to post free CME
offerings on our chapter sites as an
educational resource for our members?
Answer: You can post events with free CEs as long as you clearly state that they are not Chapter Events, that the chapter is not endorsing them, but they are for members’ information only. Otherwise, they can be construed as advertising by the IRS, which isn’t allowed.
