Subject Pronouns – Take the place of one or

more nouns in the subject of a sentence.

They can be singular or plural.

Note: I is a subject pronoun – It should only be used in the subject and when used in a compound subject it comes last.

Plural Subject Pronouns: you, we, they

Singular Subject Pronouns: I, you, he, she, it

Underline the subject pronoun. If the antecedent is present, circle it:

Mr. George is an English teacher, and he knows a lot about short stories.

My books are in my locker, and they belong there.

Maria wrote a story. She told A.J. about the characters.

We can finish the project.

I talked to Kevin, and _____ thinks it is fantastic.

My friends have copies, and _____ will read it soon.

Object Pronouns – Take the place of one or more nouns and they are

found AFTER verbs or prepositions.

They can be singular or plural.

Note: me is an object pronoun – It should only be used in the predicate and when used in conjunction with another object, it should come last.

Plural Object Pronouns: us, you, them

Singular Object Pronouns: me, you, him, her, it

Underline the object pronoun. If the antecedent is present, circle it:

Who will help you?

My sister helped me.

We formed a writing group with them.

We will read this book and discuss it.

My mother bought a copy for my brother and me.

Andre and ____ are writing a story together.

Ella is working on the story with Andre and _____.

Ella told Andre and ____ the pictures are finished.
