This letter transmits the 6-month Maine and Vermont Interstate 1lighway HeavyTruck PilotStudy the Congress requested in the December 16, 2009, Conference Report accompanying thefiscal year (FY) 2010 Consolidated Appropriations Act.

Section 194of the FY 2010 Consolidated Appropriations Act authorized a 1-year pilot programfrom December 16.2009. to December 17. 2010. and required a 6-month report for both Stateson bridge safety and weight impacts of the program. The enclosed report was prepared byFederal Ilighway Administration staff, along with Maine State Department ofTransportation andthe Vermont AgencyofTransportation staff, and responds to the request for a 6-month report.

An identical letter has been sent to the Ranking Member of the Senate Committee onAppropriations; the Chairman and Ranking Member of the Senate Subcommittee onTransportation, Housing and Urban Development, and Related Agencies; the Chairman andRanking Member of the Ilouse Committee on Appropriations, and the Chairman and RankingMember ol'the House Subcommittee on Transportation.
