Admission requirements

GENERAL:

• A university degree, equivalent to a bachelor's degree

• Proficency in English

SPECIFIC:

• vary from field to field.

• for example, specific subjects

Proficency in English

• IELTS: an overall mark of 6.5 and no section below 5.5

• TOEFL: Paper-based: Score of 4.5 (scale 1-6) in written test and a total score of 575. Internet-based: Score of 20 (scale 0-30) in written test and a total score of 90

• Cambridge: CAE, CPE

Selection

Selection among eligible applicants to a master programme can be based on, for example:

• previous academic studies and degrees,

• statement of intent

• work experience

• degree project.

The mode of selection can vary from one programme to another; see the description of each programme for details.

Important dates

• Online application opens: October 17, 2011

• Last date for applying: January 16, 2012

• Last date for submitting documents: Mid January

• First notification: End of March

• Last day for replying to your answer: Mid April

• Final notification: End of April

• Submitting the Housing Application Form (HAF): Mid May

• The tutition fee for the first semester provided to Uppsala University: Stated on the invoice

Tuition fees

• students outside the EEA and

Switzerland pay fees for study at

Swedish universities

• between SEK 80 000 and SEK 180 000 per academic year.

Housing guarantee for students who

• must pay the tuition fees

• have applied in application period Oct 17 – Jan 16

• Have been admitted

• Have filled in correctly and submitted housing interest form in time

• have paid their tutions fee no later than June 15.  

PhD Studies

To be admitted as a doctoral student you must:• fulfill the prerequisite requirements for the subject

in question• have the ability in general to cope with the

program

In order for your studies to be meaningful, prior knowledge of Swedish and particularly English is useful

Admissions are handled by the respective departments.

Entrance requirements to Ph D studies

• higher education of at least a Master’s degree (60 credits), equivalent to at least four years of full-time study (3 years at bachelor's level plus 1 year of advanced study at master’s level) with a total of at least 120 credits in the research subject.

• the faculty board of the Department in question may add other entrance requirements.
