sPICE Rottnest Island
If you are a student and you enjoy
beautiful views, nature and
wonderful beaches you can spend
a day at Rottnest Island. There
you can walk, ride a bicycle, swim
and explore splendid coral under
the clear water with white sand
and take fantastic pictures.
You need only thirty minutes from
Perth by ferry to enjoy all day!
And with just $100 you will have an unforgettable experience! On this island
you can rent bicycles for all day and ride all around this unbelievable island
then you could find the native animals called “Quokkas”. Each minute that you
spend there you can find new things to do. Very often people can see whales
around the island , it is a great experience.
Rottnest Island is a little gem in the world you will not be able to forget. For
more than one person their Rottnest island experience was more wonderful
than the famous Islands called The Bahamas !

Last Thursday we went to Hillary's Boat Harbour
with our classmates, we left school at 11am and we
arrived at the beach at 12 pm.
First of all we missed the train to Warwick, and then
we picked up the second train to Stirling. At the
train station we caught a bus to go to the beach.
When we arrived to Hillary's some of us swam in
the sea and the rest of us stayed on the sand.
It's a gorgeous place! The sea was very blue and
clean and the sand was very white.
Around 1pm we had lunch in a restaurant in front of
the beach, we ate chips and hamburgers and we
drank a delicious, cold coke. In the afternoon we
sunbathed on the beautiful beach and some of our
classmates went back home. Three of us stayed
until 5 o'clock at Hillary's.
It was a very lovely day and all students enjoyed
the afternoon with Jo! Hillary's Boat Harbour is a
wonderful place with the nice beach and the pretty
shops and restaurants.
If you have a time, you should go there with
your families or friends, you will enjoy it!

We have been here for 3 months. When we arrived in Perth, we thought it was the best city in Austra-
lia, the weather is good, although it is so hot whenever we wanted to go to beach, we could go and enjoy
surfing, playing beach volleyball. And the roads in Australia are very clean. The most important thing
is that there are not many people. We all want to stay here and study English.
There are many people from all over the world, they are very nice and friendly. So, we have adapted
to life in Australia.
When we came here the first week, we thought we should have fun and play lots of things. But we
felt bored because our English was not very good. So we couldn't do anything. Furthermore there is not
too much to do. After all, we need English to do everything here. So studying at the moment is just as
important as having fun. So now, our plan is to study hard, after that we can do whatever we want.
Every day, we talk with English. That is why our English is improving now. After 6 months, we
will be better.

Hillary's Boat Harbour is a wonderful place
The city of Amsterdam is in the Netherland, in Europe. I was
there two years ago. It is one of the most beautiful cities of
Europe. The city has been build with a lot of canals that make a
peaceful atmosphere. You can find a lot of museums there, one
of the most famous is the Heineken museum. It explains how
beer is made. The architecture of the city is nice and the streets
are really clean.
The people are environmentally-friendly. They often ride a
bike to move around the city. There
are every time a lot of trees in the
streets and the biggest botanical
garden of Europe.
During the summer, the average
temperature is 25 degrees and in the
winter is something like 0 degrees.
It is often freezing and there is lots
of snow.
In this country, you can
smoke marijuana. But be careful,
smoke less, enjoy more.
So, if you want some advice, it's
really a great place to go.

My homestay family is a woman
called Liz. She is 50+ years old and
has two sons, but they don't live at
home any more. Liz is very funny,
friendly and also considerate. Every
evening she cooks great meals and
we enjoy dinner together around the
table. We have good conversations
and we laugh a lot.
The big house has two floors, 5 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. There is a big living
room with an open kitchen and also another TV-room. Around the house there
are a lot of plants.
The house is in a really beautiful area. It is about 30 minutes north of Perth. The
bus stop is 10 minutes away on foot. Near the bus stop you can find a few small
shops. There is also a McDonald’s and a Subway.
I recommend that everybody chooses a homestay family when
they come to study in Perth. You learn a lot about Australian
Life, feel safe and you are a part of the family.

Do not be afraid of Perth Library!
A final word from our friend Champ
A Homestay Family
I am not good at reading but there are many things that attracted me to the library
because it is not only a place for reading books it is also a good place for relaxing.
Perth Library is located in Perth City Centre on Hay Street. Everyone can go there for
free by the Red Cat or by using many buses along St George’s Terrace, or just walk
from the train station. There are lots of activities for everyone and they are changed
monthly. We can have a great time with new friends which is very useful for us be-
cause we are students from overseas. We can practise many things like speaking with
native speakers, reading books, surfing the internet, which are much better than doing
nothing, aren’t they?
If you would like to borrow books, it is very easy. You only need to become a member
and you get a personal membership card. Just having an address in Perth and a stamp
from our school, that’s it. And it’s free! We can borrow two books at one time and we
have time to read them for three weeks. In addition, there are many entertainment
things we can borrow for example CDs, DVDs, tapes, magazines etc. all of which will
help us to improve our English skills.
There are many things waiting for you at Perth Library. Why don’t you go there to do
whatever you want? It’s better than spending time doing nothing, isn’t it? Don’t waste
your time staying in your room or missing someone in your own countries. Let’s go!
