The text and forty photographs tell the story and bust the myths still encircling the 2005 flooding during Katrina. The six panels are about ALL the levee breaches, ALL the neighborhoods, ALL the
lives. The beautiful garden uses native plans which helps manage stormwater onsite and reduce the load on the municipal drainage system. The exhibit hall and garden is free, open to everyone.

3-Day, 2-Night Suggested Student Itinerary Day One:
AM – After breakfast this morning you will tour the Cabildo & Presbytere, two of the museums that are part of the Louisiana State Museums collection of museums. This is a perfect prelude to a
Walking Tour of the Vieux Carre (old city).
Lunch – For lunch you may want to try Deanie’s Seafood, Hard Rock Café, House of Blues, K-Paul’s Louisiana Kitchen, or Oceana Restaurant, just to name a few. After lunch the group can
tour the Audubon Aquarium of the Americas, one of the top Aquariums in the United States, located on the banks of the Mississippi. Later, hop aboard the Riverfront Streetcar that will take
you to the French Market & Flea Market where the kids can shop ‘til they drop before heading back to the hotel.
Evening – This evening you may want to have a “Pizza Party” around the pool or go out to one of the many restaurants New Orleans has to offer. You may also want to take in some traditional Dixieland Jazz this evening at The Maison, Preservation Hall, aboard a Riverboat, or the Lil’ Gem Saloon.
Day Two: AM –This morning’s breakfast will be at an open-air café where you can enjoy a traditional New Orleans treat! Café Au Lait (or Chocolate Milk!) and Beignets, a French Doughnut (without the
hole!). After breakfast, board a flat boat and travel through the swamps and bayous where you will see wildlife such as Alligators, Egrets, Nutria, Water Snakes and more.
Lunch – Head back to New Orleans for lunch at Barcadia, a new restaurant and arcade in the
downtown area, featuring gourmet burgers and larger than life games that can be enjoyed by people of all ages. After lunch, continue your “wildlife” day with a visit to the Audubon Insectarium, North
America’s largest museum devoted to insects and their relatives.
Evening - Get ready to experience Dinner and Dancing at a Mulate’s Cajun Music Restaurant. Dancers will teach your group how to do the “Two Step” to a live Cajun Band and dine on Cajun and
Creole specialties. Day Three:
AM – After breakfast this morning, hop aboard the streetcar for a ride down Historic St. Charles Avenue to the Audubon Zoo, rated one of the top 5 zoo’s in the country. The Audubon Zoo is the
home of the rare white tiger. Enjoy lunch right in the Zoo at one of their food outlets or nearby restaurants. The Zoo also features the new Cool Zoo and Gator Run Lazy River water attractions,
so don’t forget your swimsuit and towel!
This afternoon, take a tour of Mardi Gras World. Here you will see where Mardi Gras is made! Tour Carnival dens where artists and sculptors build and design floats for the annual event. You can even take a picture with a giant King Kong, try on costumes and view a video on the history of this unique
event. For groups you can arrange private mask making, king cake tasting, or mini float building interactive activities.
Evening – Tonight before heading home, your group may want to take in some last minute shopping at the new Outlet Collection at Riverwalk (overlooking the Mississippi River) and enjoy an array of
restaurants and unique shops.

3-Day, 3-Night Suggested Student Itinerary
Day One: Afternoon – Once in the Crescent City, make plans to visit the Audubon Aquarium of the Americas,
which is recognized as one of the nation’s leading aquariums, located on the banks of the Mississippi River in the Historic French Quarter. It’s an underwater adventure featuring over a million gallons of water and
habitats that hold 15,000 aquatic species. Following a tour of the Aquarium, walk on over to their newest facility, the Audubon Insectarium.
For dinner, you may want to try Barcadia, Bubba Gump Shrimp Company, Crazy Lobster, Huck Finn’s
Cafe, Hard Rock Café, Margaritaville Café, Oceana Restaurant, or House of Blues (just to name a few!!). After dinner, the group can take in a Dixieland Jazz cruise aboard an authentic steamboat or
paddlewheeler, just like in the days gone by. See and feel the power and history of the Mississippi River and its influence on New Orleans.
To end your evening, your group can experience a walking ghost tour throughout the streets of the historic French Quarter. Afterward, you may want to enjoy a traditional local treat…..Café au Lait (or Chocolate Milk!) and Beignets (a French donut, without the hole) at world famous Café du Monde, an
open-air café located in the heart of the Vieux Carre (French Quarter). The group may want to watch the beignet making through windows at the back of the café!
Day Two: Start your day with a City Sightseeing Tour to include our “cities of the dead” – our unique above-ground
burial system. After the tour, your group can shop and dine at The Outlet Collection at Riverwalk’s unique shops and eateries, all while boasting spectacular views of the Mississippi River.
After lunch, you may want to visit one of our many museums, such as the Mardi Gras World, the
National World War II Museum, or any of the Louisiana State Museums located in and around the French Quarter (the Cabildo, the Presbytere, Old U.S. Mint). The Old US Mint houses a state-of-the-art
performance venue that is perfect for performance groups and always has an audience!
Dinner this evening can be at Rock ‘N Bowl truly a New Orleans institution, or at one of the many world-famous restaurants that New Orleans has to offer. Typically, the weather is mild so a pizza party around the
hotel pool may also be an option.
Day Three: After breakfast this morning, venture outside of New Orleans where you will travel through the swamps and bayous with a local Cajun guide. You will see alligators, egrets, flora, birds and more. You may
even get to feed marshmallows to an alligator!! Your group may choose between a slow flat boat experience or an exhilarating airboat tour!
Later, your group may want to enjoy a New Orleans style po-boy on the way to visit one of our magnificent plantation homes that line the Mississippi River, many of which are National Historic Landmarks. You can
tour one of these treasures before heading back into New Orleans.
Evening – Get ready for a foot stompin’ and toe tappin’ evening when your group takes in a Cajun music restaurant, such as Mulate’s or Bayou Barn, where you can dine on Cajun cuisine and enjoy a live Cajun
band. Or you can learn how to cook Cajun & Creole food like a professional by attending a cooking demonstration at the New Orleans School of Cooking or the Southern Food & Beverage Museum. Afterward

DAY ONE: After your morning arrival try a traditional New Orleans breakfast of Café au Lait and Beignets at world-
famous Café du Monde located in the heart of the French Quarter before setting out for the day! Following your light breakfast, head on over to one of Audubon Nature Institute’s award winning facilities - the
Aquarium of the Americas, the IMAX Theatre or their newest venture, the Insectarium. You can grab lunch at any of these locations or you may want to explore the food court at the Outlet Collection at
Riverwalk located nearby where you can shop and dine along the riverfront.
Check into your hotel and refresh for this evening’s activities. Tonight you can perform on the docks of the Mississippi River while passengers board a riverboat paddlewheeler. After the performance you will enjoy
dinner and Dixieland jazz while cruising the Mighty Mississippi.
DAY TWO: After breakfast this morning start your day with a City Sightseeing Tour of New Orleans. You will
encompass many of the neighborhoods that make the city unique. You will get an overview of the French Quarter, see Lake Pontchartrain, City Park, and ride along the route of the St. Charles Avenue
streetcar where you will see Tulane & Loyola Universities, Audubon Park, an abundance of stately homes, churches and synagogues before passing the Garden District.
End your tour at the National World War II museum, affiliated with the Smithsonian and designated by
Congress as the “official” WWII museum of the U.S. Here you can enjoy a box lunch and a tour before your Patriotic musical performance. Afterward, take a tour of Mardi Gras World, where you will see how Mardi Gras is made! Tour carnival dens where artists and sculptors build and design floats, watch a movie about the history of Mardi Gras, then try on a costume and pose for your photo with King Kong! You can also
arrange for a private activity, such as mask making or float building.
This evening visit the infamous Preservation Hall. The building dates back to 1750 but opened as a Jazz venue to protect and honor New Orleans Jazz. Tonight enjoy the sounds of legendary musicians as well as
take part in an educational program in this historic setting. Another option is to have a performance prior to dinner with live Jazz at the Maison. Or choose from the array of student friendly restaurants located in the French Quarter such as Barcadia, Bubba Gump Shrimp Co, Hard Rock Café, House of Blues, as well as
numerous locally owned restaurants that cater to tour groups. The possibilities are endless!
DAY THREE: After breakfast today, venture outside of the city limits for a Swamp Tour where you will travel through the swamps and bayous with a local Cajun guide. See alligators and other wildlife and you may even get to feed
marshmallows to the alligators!
For lunch today you may want to try some local fare or pick up a “po-boy” and picnic along the way to visit one of our magnificent plantation homes that line the Mississippi River. Several of the plantation homes also offer lunch and will allow a group performance. You will step back in time when touring one of these
national treasures.
This evening, get ready to experience Southern hospitality and food at the New Orleans School of Cooking. Learn how to cook traditional Creole and Cajun dishes before eating them in a family-style
atmosphere. Before you leave, make sure to pick up some seasonings to show off your new cooking skills at home and impress Mom and Dad!

Motorcoach Rules & Regulations
French Quarter / Vieux Carre General Information – The French Quarter/Vieux Carre District is bounded by Esplanade Avenue, North Rampart Street, Canal Street, and Decatur Street. Rules and Regulations – Buses less than 31 feet are required to use authorized routes as indicated on the map. “Out of Town” buses longer than 31 feet can enter the French Quarter using authorized routes ONLY on day of arrival and day of departure provided they acquire a permit from the hotel. Buses longer than 31 feet are not allowed to pick up or drop off in the French Quarter any other time. See designated peripheral bus loading and unloading areas on the map. Buses can only make turns at intersections within the French Quarter as noted on the map. Buses are not permitted on routes designated “No Bus Zone”. Please refer to map. Buses must load or unload passengers in loading zones or passenger zones. They may also use freight zones if no other vehicle is waiting to enter. Loading and unloading are limited to fifteen minutes. Buses shall not idle for longer than ten minutes. Buses shall not idle for longer than ten minutes while stopped or parked. Permits and Maps – Permits are to be obtained in advance by the hotel. The permit must be displayed in the top right hand side of the front windshield. Penalties – Penalties for violation of the French Quarter/Vieux Carre bus restrictions may be imposed and can include fines.

Garden District
General Information – The Garden District is bounded by St. Charles Avenue, Jackson Avenue, Louisiana Avenue, and Magazine Street. Rules and Regulations – No buses with a seating capacity of more than 20 passengers may travel in the Garden District (see exception below). The Department of Safety & Permits Ground Transportation Bureau may authorize up to 22 buses per month having a capacity of more than 20 passengers to travel on Prytania Street and Washington Avenue within the Garden District for the sole purpose of receiving and discharging passengers from commercial establishments. Buses must have a permit and a copy of the bus route on board. Loading and unloading is authorized only in zones that are marked and bear signs. Tour buses may be parked while pedestrian Garden District tours are in progress at authorized zones in non-residential areas. Buses shall not idle for longer than ten minutes while stopped or parked. Permits and Maps – To obtain a Garden District permit, contact the Department of Safety & Permits Ground Transportation Bureau at 504-658-7170. Penalties – Penalties for violation of the Garden District bus restrictions may be imposed and/or may result in suspension of future permit requests.
