(Advancement Via Individual Determination)AVID
AVID trains educators to use proven practices in order to prepare students for success even those that are traditionally underrepresented.
AVID advisors hold students accountable to the highest standards, provide academic and social support, and they rise to the challenge.
AVID:
• Teaches skills and behaviors for academic success• Provides intensive support with tutorials and strong
student/teacher relationships• Creates a positive peer group for students• Develops a sense of hope for personal achievement gained
through hard work and determination
• The AVID Elective is the core of AVID Secondary. It targets students in the academic middle– B, C, and even D students
• AVID places these students on the college track, requiring them to enroll in the most rigorous courses that are appropriate for them
“AVID is closing the achievement gap with equitable persistence among diverse groups of college students”
