The project consisted of the
complete refurbishment of
42 student apartments to
provide contemporary
living. The work included
new boilers, electrical
rewiring, new kitchens &
bathrooms, decoration &
floor coverings.
The two blocks had been left empty for two years and had suffered
vandalism including gas pipes and radiators stolen.
Also the asbestos removal specialist had removed the lighting, leaving
insufficient cable to reconnect.
The building was extremely damp and suffering from excessive mould
growth.
All these issues had to be addressed within a very tight contract period in
order to ensure handover was achieved by the end of August.
