Step 1: The first part of making spider cupcakes begins with mixing up the batter.

Step 2: Bake the cupcakes to perfection. Sometimes it's hard to tell when chocolate cupcakes are done, so just insert a toothpick in the middle of a cake and if it comes out clean, it's done.

Step 3: Make sure the cupcakes cool before frosting them and adding sprinkles. In this case, chocolate frosting and sprinkles were used to look like black, hairy spiders.

Step 4: Next, get ready to add the decorations. Cut pieces of pull-apart red licorice (or black if you prefer) and stick three pieces on each side of the cupcake for the legs. Then place two M&M's next to each other at one end of the cupcake for eyes.

The Spider: The spider is ready to be admired then enjoyed! Happy birthday and Happy Halloween! All of the girls on my floor loved the spider cupcakes and said they were delicious.
