bush, the Weengallon Pink LadiesDay.On Wednesday August 25, 500women converged on the tiny townbetween Goondiwindi and StGeorge, where they lunched in theluxurious Toowoomba Party Hiremarquee and raised more than$20,000 for breast cancer.Rabobank flew in guest speaker,Amanda Ghirardello, fromMelbourne. The formerGoondiwindi girl received a stand-ing ovation after telling her story ofbeing diagnosed with breast cancerat the age of 25 and going on to trekthe Himalayas as part of her quest toraise a million dollars for cancerresearch through her foundationRemission Possible.There was fierce bidding in thedecorative bra art auction with thecreation by Breast Cancer Patronand Channel 7 newsreader, KayMcGrath, selling for $900 to JudyGrills from Inverell. Sellina Batefrom Talwood paid $1250 for the brapainting by Warwick artist JaneDonaldson. The Dirranbandi Bridge Club paid$600 for Senator Barnaby Joyce’s brapainting which featured the signa-tures of both Prime Minister JuliaGillard and Opposition Leader TonyAbbott.St George fashion boutique owner,Julie Dries, bought the Rabobankbra for $1150 and Judy Bodkin fromBalonne Steel and Rural Suppliesbought the local patchwork group’sbra for $950. The Weengallonperpetual apron which carries thenames of previous buyers was soldfor $600 to sister-in-laws KarenSullivan from Dirranbandi andJacquie Henwood from Toobeah.The $2780 all-inclusive weekendescape to Spicers Peak Lodge atMaryvale was won by Amy Muchfrom the Talwood Pub andNindigully girl Gina Mace won the$2000 makeover with CosmeticElegance. Sally Prosser fromMungindi won the Archie BishopJewellery and Gifts best dressedprize and Jocelyn Freeman insparkling pink platform shoes wonthe McCartney and Creed best shoesprize. Organisers of the day, theWeengallon Kindy Mums, said thefundraiser wouldn’t have beenpossible without the support of their
