DAY 1 - Stamping
INSTRUCTIONS
Card 1
1. Create a white card base of 4 ¼” x 5 ½” and set it aside.
2. On a 4” x 5 ¼” cardstock, draw a pencil line from one corner to the opposite corner (diagonally).
3. In MISTI, lay down stamps from Wallpaper Art Stamp Set so they all fit within the upper portion of the pencil line. (The reason for doing this is that you can rotate the paper and get perfect stamping on both sides of the line without aligning the stamps again.)
4. Use Permanent Black Ink to stamp the images.
5. Rotate the cardstock 180 degrees and stamp the images again.
6. Erase the pencil line.
7. Stamp the sentiment “Thank you”.
8. Adhere the stamped panel onto the card base.

Card 2
1. Create a white card base of 4 ¼” x 5 ½” and set it aside.
2. On a 4” x 5 ¼” cardstock, stamp an image from A Study in Watercolor Stamp Set and stamp it using Blush ink.
3. Now place the stamp a little offset to the previously stamped image and stamp again using a darker ink (Rouge) from the same color family as the previous ink.
4. Stamp the sentiment over the stamped images.
5. Use Nuvo Drops to embellish the card front.
6. Adhere the stamped panel onto the card base.

Card 3
1. Create a pale gray card base of 4 ¼” x 5 ½” and set it aside.
2. On 4” x 5 ¼” of watercolor cardstock, stamp the flower from Wallpaper Art Stamp Set with Embossing Ink and heat emboss it with Pure White Embossing Powder.
3. Place a mask over the heat-embossed image and stamp the second flower then heat emboss it.
4. Similarly, cover the second flower too with a mask and stamp the third flower. Heat emboss it as well.
5. Keep the masks in their places. Use a blending brush and Caribbean Sky Crisp Dye Ink to add color to the background, roughly along the flowers.
6. Apply Midnight Violet Watercolor Brush Marker onto the petals as a line, closer to the flower center. Spread this around with a watercolor brush.
7. To add color to the yellow flower, use Warm Sunshine and Autumn Blaze Watercolor Brush Markers. For the orange flower, use Autumn Blaze and Rubellite Watercolor Brush Markers.
8. Stamp the sentiment on the panel.
9. Adhere the panel onto the card base.

DAY 1 - Stamping
TIPS
• When stamping wth the Misti, stamp on only one half, then turn your paper and stamp the other half (see the video for an example).
• When stamping backgrounds, be sure to stamp some images off of the cardstock for a more natural appearance.
• When layering stamps in a collage, use colours of the same colour family or ink family so that they do not compete with each other.
• When embossing and masking, emboss each image individually to ensure the ink stays sticky enough for the powder.

DAY 2 - Stencilling
ALTENEW ACADEMY | JUSTINE HOVEY | PROGRESSIVE CARDMAKING - DAY 2
TIPS
• When stencilling, add tape to the back of your paper and attach to the stencil, then add tape to the stencil to attach to your work surface so it doesn’t shift.
• You may want to use a spray adhesive when stencilling with very detailed stencils with fine lines as those move about easily.
• Keep a container of warm water next to you when you stencil so you can toss your stencils in to keep them moist before you give them a more thorough wash. This ensures that pastes and gels won’t harden and ruin your stencil.

MORE INSPIRATION
You can also add additional colours to your layers by masking off areas with tape. This gives the flowers a more in-depth look!
You can layer your normal stencils by stencilling it once and then moving and stencilling again in a darker colour. This gives your stencils lots of versatility.

• There are plenty of Altenew stamp and mask stencil sets available for you so you don’t have to fussy cut!
• Reuse your masks that you’ve cut by sticking them onto the acetate of your stamp for future use!

DAY 4 - Die Cutting
ALTENEW ACADEMY | JUSTINE HOVEY | PROGRESSIVE CARDMAKING - DAY 4
TIPS
• When die cutting, I usually tape my die in place using a washi tape or purple tape. This way I avoid die cutting and it shifting while I am cutting.
• Use a metal shim when cutting intricate dies to get even pressure on those tight areas.
• Try cutting areas out of cover plate dies to stretch your dies.
MORE INSPIRATION
This gorgeous card features areas of a die that have been cut out – such a clever way to stretch your dies!
Tasnim created this stunning accent with the same rectangle die I used in the intermediate card. That subtle accent in gold is so stunning.

Card 2
1. Create a white card base of 4 ¼” x 5 ½” and set it aside.
2. On a 4” x 5 ¼” cardstock, use Mega Hydrangea Stencil to dry emboss by running it through the die-cutting machine.
3. Now, die cut the word “thanks” from the Mega Thanks Die and heat emboss it with Antique Gold Embossing Powder.
4. Adhere the die-cut onto the card front then stamp the sentiment below it.
5. On the open card base, place a masking or purple tape above the scoreline. Apply embossing ink directly from the inkpad onto the edges of the card base. We are doing this to add a frame of color around the card front.

2. On a 4 ¼” x 5 ½” black cardstock, apply double-sided adhesive strips leaving a quarter of an inch of distance between them. Tuck the excess strips behind the panel.
3. Now, reveal the backing from the strips one at a time and use Antique Gold, Silver, and Copper Embossing Powders and heat emboss them.
4. Repeat the step, adhering strips on the opposite side.
5. Die cut Thinking of You Die and heat emboss it in Antique Gold Embossing Powder. Then adhere it to the card front.
6. Adhere the panel onto the card base.
29
DAY 5 - Embossing
ALTENEW ACADEMY | JUSTINE HOVEY | PROGRESSIVE CARDMAKING - DAY 5
TIPS
• When embossing, prep the surface with an embossing bag to eliminate static and oils from fingertips. Less embossing powder will stick to areas you don’t want it to.
• Add extra layers of embossing powder and melt after each layer to get a smooth look. In the end, it’s as thick as those expensive sentiments you can buy in stores.
• If you get a stray piece of powder after heating, you can remove it using a sandpaper eraser.

TIPS
• When die cutting washi tape, try and wrap the tape around the paper for extra strength and to ensure that the washi stays in place over time.
• If your washi tape isn’t wide enough, you can line them up and add two rows side-by-side.
