Blackout What is it?

A blackout is when there is no electricity. In the summer of 2003, the state of New York and parts of Canada had one of the biggest blackouts in history. On August 14 the electricity went out and stayed out for almost 15 hours.

Role-play Instructions: Pair work – each student has a role card

with a situation and some language. You have 5 minutes to prepare the role-play.

The role- play must last at least one minute and you must incorporate the expression written on the role cards.
