"There are as many sorrows as there are people who feel them and there are no rules...It is solitary... Grief is such a
lonely thing. There is no-one in it with you - others may grieve for the same soul, but they do not grieve exactly for
what you also grieve. No-one has lost precisely what you have lost. Not exactly, never exactly. We are in it alone...Oh it is wild and it is lonely. It is as if you've woken to a world that you recognize but it has been tilted, somehow - coated, or
rubbed down, or made colder or less bright. It echoes where it should not echo; where it should echo, it is as echoless as a single, muffled thud. And grief is not merely sadness, as
if sadness alone was not enough to bear. I had imagined the sorrow to be as deep as a well, a howling grief, but I had not imagined the other feelings that have no right to be there, which seem wholly misplaced in a state of grieving - rage,
impatience, self-pity, disgust. They come from the dark and rush in upon you..." - Susan Fletcher, The Silver Dark Sea

February Guild Meeting Thursday, February 21st (6:30 p.m.)
If you have never been to a Guild meeting, or you haven’t been to one in a very long time,
please consider attending this month’s meeting on Thursday, February 21st at 6:30
p.m. You don’t need to know anyone — so you can arrive alone, or bring a friend! It’s a very welcoming organization and you’ll instantly feel right at home! The planned program for this month includes a guest speaker — Karen
Lakus, a Historical Interpreter with the Cleveland Metroparks! Karen presents
programs about a variety of local history topics, and is especially interested in
Prehistoric Ohio; she’s even participated in a number of archaeological digs! When not at work, Karen can
still be found in the parks hiking and bird watching.

St. Monica Improvement Fund Dear Parishioners, The St. Monica Improvement Fund (golden envelopes) is used to pay for necessary
repairs on our Parish buildings and on our Parish grounds. This fund is also used to pay for necessary maintenance like snow plowing in the winter, and landscaping in the summer. This year we have some extra-ordinary repairs like the rectory sewer system and broken water line (over $16,000), and the Church East Entrance Roof ($13,000). Thank you for your continued generosity to this fund. This is a great help to our parish finances.

St. Michael Church Perpetual Adoration
for Life, March 7-9
"Before I formed you in the womb
I knew you, before you were born,
I dedicated you."
This verse from Jeremiah 1:5 affirms
that our Creator is as premeditated about
giving life as too many of us are about
taking it away--even while it's still in the
womb. Thankfully, we have an
opportunity to be instruments in God's
drive to give life — and it's easier than
giving blood to the Red Cross!
Starting Thursday, March 7th, while the
Bringing America Back to Life
Convention happens in Independence
at the Embassy Suites on March 8 & 9,
you can participate via prayer at a
Right to Life Mass
offered by Bishop Roger Griese
at St. Michael Church
in Independence at 5:30 pm.
You can schedule your own hour with
the Blessed Sacrament during the
perpetual adoration following Mass,
from Thursday, March 7th at 6:30 p.m.
through 10 p.m. Saturday, March 9th!
To lock in your hour of meditation be-
fore the Blessed Sacrament, go to
