Outreach Ministry
If you have a homebound family member or parishioner
friend who cannot make it to church, please call the parish
office; we can arrange to have cards sent to our homebound
parishioners to let them know we are thinking and praying for
them, and we can arrange for Mr. Moreira, our Pastoral
Minister, a priest or deacon to visit and bring communion.
Please also let us know of any parishioners who may be
hospitalized or recovering from surgery in a rehab facility and
would like a visit from the parish.
2018 Parish “Annual Collection”
This very important collection continues thru the month of
December. The participation of all parishioners is essential for
the success of this effort. By your generous support, we are
able to keep up with major capital improvements.
Thank you for your support.

PARISH PROTOCOL DURING THE COLD AND
FLU SEASON
(Advent to Holy Week)
This seems an appropriate time to suspend the reception of the
chalice at Mass as we enter the cold and flu season. If you have a bad
cold or flu, you are dispensed from the Sunday Mass obligation.
Also, simply acknowledge people at Mass with a friendly nod or
gesture if you have a cold. Hand disinfectant is available at all the
doors of the Church.
Stay well!
December 22-23, 2018
The Pastor’s Corner
The day draws nigh! I always find it amazing that
somehow, everything gets done for our festive celebration of
Christmas Day. We may be frazzled, but, hopefully, we’re
ready…spiritually and otherwise. Come Lord, Jesus, do not
delay!
Special words of thanks to two parishioners: Dennis
Fagan and John Almeida. Dennis crafted the two new oak
light pedestals in the sanctuary. The flood lights that light
the sanctuary crucifix were just sitting on two plaster stands.
Now, they are secured to the new wooden matching
pedestals. Thank you, Dennis, for your carpentry skills.
The speakers for the bell system need replacing. John ran
a conductivity test from the control unit to the steeple. I’m
glad he was brave enough to go up within the steeple! The
wiring is receiving enough voltage to power the speakers. I
am awaiting a quote from the Verdin Bell Company.
Thanks, John, for your professional electrical services on the
speakers and replacing the breaker for the smaller Christmas
Tree near the parking lot.
The Christmas Concert and Pageant last Sunday
(Gaudete Sunday) always begins the second half of
Advent. Our heartfelt thanks to Ron and the entire Music
Ministry, and our young people, who set the tone for the
coming Solemnity of Christmas.
Today’s gospel of the visitation of Mary to Elizabeth in
Ein Karem (a beautiful town just outside the city limits of
western Jerusalem) is commemorated in the second Joyful
Mystery of the Rosary. The reaction of Elizabeth is part of
the devotional prayer, the Hail Mary… “Blessed are you
among women!” Even John the Baptism leaped within
Elizabeth’s womb when Mary’s greeted her cousin. My
prayer for all our families is that we, too, be so moved in
faith and devotion as we gather as parish and family this
Christmas Day.
The Church is beautifully decorated for this Solemnity of
Christmas. Welcome home to our university/college,
military school, and boarding school students. To all our
parishioners from Deacon Needham, Mrs. Nunes, Ron and
music ministry, decorators, Beth and Anthony, Jack, Charlie
Moreira, and Bethany Bessette in Faith Formation, our
prayers for a holy Christmas Day and Season.
~ With Christmas blessing
Monsignor Darcy
