“Echoes 2k18-19, IIM Kozhikode Event” – International B-Plan
Championship
As part of “Echoes 2k18-19, Annual Cultural Festival”; Indian Institute of Management,
Kozhikode, Kerala in association with Makeintern.com organized International B-Plan
Championship at its campus from 1st to 3rd February 2019. The association aims to provide
increased opportunities to students for innovative solutions to global problems.
IIM Kozhikode in association with Makeintern.com organized two day workshop on
“Entrepreneurship and Soft Skills” at St,Josephs Degree & PG College on 6th and 7th September
2018. 68 students from I, II and III year (66 from B.Com and 2 from B.Sc) registered for the
event. The resource person was Ms. Niky Xavier Francis who is a peak performance facilitator,
Trainer and mentor specializing in Personal branding, Interview and Soft Skills, business
communication, Organizational Behavior and Organizational Development related training
programs with an overall experience of more than 11 years. As part of first round “Product
Launch” competition was conducted where 5 students were declared as winners who will
participate in the final round to be held at IIM Kozhikode campus. The students were
accompanied to the venue by Mrs.Ritika Waghray, Assistant Professor, Department of
Commerce.
The International B-Plan Championship consisted of two rounds. First round was held on 2nd
February 2019 where 50 teams/colleges (5 per team) had to present their idea and need to
describe their vision towards the idea within a time limit of 5 minutes before the panel of judges.
17 teams were shortlisted for the final round which was held on 3rd February 2019. In the final
round, the teams presented their plan in detail within a time limit of 10 minutes. With the efforts,

hardwork and dedication, our college got selected in the final round but were few points away
from winning the championship. It was a great learning experience for the students.

No Excuses Day
Days ahead of Telangana’s maiden Assembly polls, a group of voters on 27th November 2018,
laid out their mandate for the next state government: educate, employ, empower. In a healthy
interaction with representatives of major political parties as part of Times of India ‘No Excuses
Day’ event, organised to encourage more people to exercise their electoral franchise on 7th
December 2018, participants collectively called for strengthening of school and college
education. The Politicains who participated in the event included Mr.Krishna Sagar Rao from
BJP, Mr. Syed Nizamuddin from Congress and Gopagani Raghuram from TRS.

Ms.Yaski Sweatha of B.Com II year Computers received Certificate of Appreciation for

session “Sakshi Advant Edge- The Transformation Series organized by Vellore Institute of
Technology Business School on 28th January 2019 at Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan Auditorium,
Hyderabad. The speakers were Ms.Rashmi Bansal, renowned Author and Dr. Murali Manohar,
VIT. Ms. Rashmi spoke on aspects relating to Entrepreneurship and Leadership. Dr. Murali

Voice 4 Girls Internship Camp
Voice 4 Girls works with adolescent girls from low-income communities to build their
confidence, introduce important and relevant life skills, and engage their parents in order to
increase their opportunities and decision-making powers. The NGO was started in 2012 by Ms.
Anusha Bharadwaj, Executive Director at Voice 4 Girls. Though VOICE’s chief beneficiaries
are adolescent girls, the organization recognized the pressing need to involve boys in discussions
pertaining to gender and inequalities that are so deeply rooted in the Indian psyche.
VOICE conducts activity-based camps in government and low-cost private schools where girls
and boys acquire critical knowledge, spoken English and life skills. VOICE Camps are
conducted by motivated college students who are hired and trained intensively to impart our
curriculum. The NGO organises camps separately for boys and girls. “Voice 4 Girls Disha
Camp” for girls “Boys for Voice fire flies camp” for boys.
VOICE offers an innovative training to college students who act as counselors to maximize their
teaching potential and create positive learning environments in classroom. Our Students have
undergone training from 10th to 13th December at Hyderabad Archdiocese Social Service
Society, Secunderabad. They were provided with three books namely (1).Counselors self study
guide (2). Counselors hand book which contained the syllabus (3). Speak up book to develop
communication skills. Our Students were also informed about the teaching methodology, Tools

and Techniques to be used namely (1). Individual, pair, group work (2).Puzzles, quizzes, games
(3).Skits and role play (4) Interviewing and discussions (5).Presentations (6). Dance and songs
(7). Case studies and stories (8). Ice-breakers and energizers (9). Class room management
techniques such as Bumpity Bump Bump, 1-2-3 Eyes on me, Freeze and V for Voice. After the
training, our students were sent as counselors to Telangana Social Welfare Residential Education
Institution Society (TSWREIS) residential schools in villages of Telangana State. The duration
of the camp was from 14th to 22nd December 2018.
✓ Voice 4 Girls Disha Camp
The Voice 4 Girls Disha camp commenced with inaugural ceremony where the school
management and campers welcomed our students. Briefing session was conducted for teachers
and campers by our student counselors about the camp.
The following topics were covered during the Camp
➢ Health: Nutrition, hygiene, illnesses, menstruation, reproduction
➢ Safety: child marriage, dealing with harassment, preventing and coping with sexual
assault, support systems and rights
➢ Future Planning: Education and its importance, career, goal setting and family planning
➢ Life skills: interpersonal skills, leadership, problem solving, independent and critical
thinking ability.
➢ Communicative English Skills
The camp concluded with valedictory ceremony where the school authorities and campers
appreciated our students. Campers shared their experiences and said that the camp helped them
to learn many new things. Students said that it was a great fun interacting with the campers. They
said that the camp helped them in becoming a better person, overcome stage fear and to be
independent and strong. Our students distributed certificates to the campers. Certificates were
also given to students for participating in the camp.

✓ Boys 4 Voice Fireflies Camp
The inaugural ceremony of Boys 4 Voice Fireflies camp began with invoking God’s blessings by
lighting of the lamp by Principal of the School. Project Officer, Voice 4 Girls spoke on the vision
and mission of the organization and promised that the camp will be a great learning experience
for the school children.
The curriculum was designed to provide boys with information and skills to make healthy,
informed choices for themselves while understanding the intricacies of gender and gender-
related discrimination in India. The program seeks to instill empathy and respect in young boys,
help them resist harmful social norms, and ultimately become change makers who will join the
crusade for an equitable and inclusive society.
