Don’t Forget to Buy Your Pre-Sale Tickets!
Must be purchased before 3:00 pm on Thursday, November 10 (no exceptions)
NOW is the time to purchase your tickets. Order forms were sent home with students last week. All pre-sale ride tickets are discounted...for example the cost of a Mega (4-day) wristband that allows you to ride any day, every day and ALL day is offered for $60.00 before the event ONLY. If you were to buy a ride wristband at the door, the price would be $30 for one day. You will be getting 2 days FREE! Please see the information at the end of this newsletter regarding pre-sale tickets. St. Joseph Catholic School receives a higher percentage of the sale on all pre-sale tickets, and families receive better pricing! This is a win-win for all of us!
VOLUNTEERING: CONNECTING FAMILY, SCHOOL, AND COMMUNITY
It's easy to feel disconnected, as parents juggle work, school, children, and activity after activity. But some simple things can bring a family closer — and one of those has been proven to be volunteering.
Research shows that one of the most satisfying, fun, and productive ways to unite as a family is through volunteering for school and community projects. Volunteerism sets a good example for your children and helps the school and community.
Reasons You Need to Make Time for Your Family to Volunteer
Why should your family lend a helping hand? • It feels good. The satisfaction and pride that come from helping others are important reasons to volunteer.
When you commit your time and effort to an organization or a cause you feel strongly about, the feeling of fulfillment can be endless.
• It strengthens our community. Organizations and schools that use volunteers are providing important services at lower cost to those who need them. When a school community is doing well as a whole, its individuals all gain from the benefits.
• It can strengthen your family. Volunteerism is a great way for families to have fun and feel closer. But some people say they don't have the time to volunteer after fulfilling work and family commitments. If that's the case, try rethinking some of your free time as a family. With all families working together, the hours add up quickly!
What Does Volunteering Teach Children? • A sense of responsibility. By volunteering, children and teens learn what it means to make and keep a
commitment. They learn how to be on time, to do their best, and to be proud of the results. But they also learn that, ultimately, we're all responsible for making our school great.
• That one person can make a difference. A wonderful, empowering message for children is that they're important enough to have an impact on someone or something else.
• Tolerance. Working in volunteer service can bring children and teens in touch with people of different backgrounds, abilities, ethnicities, ages, and education and income levels. They'll learn that even the most diverse individuals can be united by common values.
• The benefit of sacrifice. By giving up time to help others, a child learns that sometimes it's good to sacrifice. Cutting back on recreation time to help at the carnival tells childen that there are important things besides ourselves and our immediate needs.
Volunteering is more than just filling in hours, it is building school spirit through support and service.

Starting the week of November 8-10 choir practice will be from 3:00-4:00. This is to accommodate rehearsal time for the Saturday Children's Mass. This mass is once a month and is a great opportunity for the choir to learn some new music and sing as an ensemble. The next mass that is scheduled is the Christmas Eve mass, 4:00 December 24th. Students in Grades 2-8 who attend the Tuesday or Thursday rehearsal will be prepared to sing this mass and the following once a month services (Dates TBD). Farmers Market
Thank you to Mrs. Hussey and our volunteers who assisted at the Farmers’ Market on Saturday. Carnival coupons and treats were shared as they answered questions about St. Joseph Catholic School.
Preparing for National Vocation Awareness Week
National Vocation Awareness Week is celebrated from November 6 to 12. Our third grade students assisted Mr. Michael John, Director of Religious Education, as they created a priest, sister, brother, and lay person, for a special display to celebrate the gift of vocations in our church.
PrayerforVocations
God of all nations, we are most grateful for the first Catholic missionaries and explorers who came to our country. As strangers in a strange land they brought with them countless skills, talents and traditions, but their greatest treasure was their faith. May the good News of Jesus Christ, which molded and shaped their lives, continue to mold and shape our lives today. Bless our diocese with men and women who will follow in their footsteps to serve the Church as religious brothers, sisters, priests, and deacons. Lord Jesus Christ, help to hear your call to "Come and See." Amen.
