Views from Fr. Larry Pichard, Pastor

Our parish Staff will be on retreat on Wednesday, April 20 from 8:00 am till 5:00 pm at Montserrat Retreat Center on the shores of Lake Lewisville. Msgr. Don Fischer will lead our retreat. Our parish office will be closed. Instead of the normal 8:30 am Mass, a deacon will lead the congregation in a Word and Communion service. Then on Thursday I will accompany 80 parishioners on the ACTS Spanish Women’s Retreat. This will be our 26th ACTS Retreat! I hope you get to make one sometime for they are powerful. Words cannot describe it, but the experience is amazing. The special collection next weekend is for “Catholic Home Missions.” Established by the USA Bishops’ Conference, this collection seeks to raise funds for those pockets of poverty where even in the USA fellow Catholics cannot build a Church or even classrooms for faith formation or normal pastoral services. According to the Bishops’ website www.usccb.org, “Surprisingly, the Catholic Church is poorly established in many parts of our country, especially Appalachia, the South, the Southwest along the Mexican border, the Rocky Mountain States, Alaska, Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands, and remote island chains like the Marshalls and the Carolines in the Pacific. Generally speaking, the home missions are everywhere that Catholics are few and the Church is fragile.” I hope that all of us can give a least a little so that they may have parish centers and/or churches for their people.

Visiones del Párroco, Pbro. Larry Pichard
