Dear Parishioners,
As a child I never wanted Christmas day to end. It was the greatest day of the year! Over the years,
I have come to see that the gift of Christmas remains with us all year long. On Christmas we celebrate
the entrance of God into his own creation. God became an infant in order to live with us. Today, our
Lord continues to be present to us in a veiled but full manner in the Eucharist. He is present to us in
the Eucharist even more than he was to those who visited him in Bethlehem.
The Magi (also known as the “Wise Men”) traveled a great distance to greet Jesus after his birth. All
we have to do to visit Jesus is make a short trip to a Catholic church! He is with us here, in our taber-
nacles and on our altars, but we often do not recognize him, just as most people did not recognize him
as Lord when he was an infant.
During my first November as the pastor, I invited parishioners to come to the South Church for an
hour of Eucharistic Adoration for four Tuesdays. The response was amazing-we packed the Church!
We had a simple mission-to pray for the parish and to trust that God would use those prayers as He
saw fit. In the two years that followed, there were times when I questioned whether those prayers ac-
tually made a difference! However, as I sit in front of the tabernacle writing this, I have to wonder
whether the great fruit of those prayers is our new Eucharistic endeavor.
We are setting out to have Eucharistic Adoration 24 hours a day Monday mornings through Friday
mornings at the South Church. Adoration will be interrupted only by the celebration of daily Mass.
We plan to begin these hours of Adoration this Lent and continue them indefinitely. Of all of the deci-
sions I have made at this parish, I have the greatest conviction that this work is God’s will.
To make this happen, we need an army of Eucharistic “Adorers.” We need people to sign up for regu-
lar spots to adore the Eucharist. In order to help us get to that point, we have several events coming
up, including Fr. Benedict La Volpe presiding for Masses on January 4th and 5th to speak to us more
about Eucharistic Adoration. Fr. Benedict has done parish missions in the US and UK and is currently
the rector of the National Shrine of Maximillian Kolbe at Marytown, which has perpetual Eucharistic
Adoration. Please see the back of this page for all of the ways in which we will provide opportunities
to better understand the importance of Eucharistic Adoration.
Every Christmas we remember the adoration of the newborn
Christ by Mary and Joseph, the shepherds, the angels, and the
Magi. Whenever we approach the Eucharist in adoration,
we join their prayers. “O, come let us adore Him!”
May God bless you!
Fr. Patrick Burns

Work progressing on 175th
anniversary book:
Donors and memorials still
welcome
As part of our 175th anniversary celebra-
tion, we are continuing work on a special
project to publish a colorful commemorative
book about St. Francis Borgia Parish. By
making a donation either in your name(s) or
to honor the memory of a loved one, you can
help offset the costs of publication, and bring
down the price of the book. Donors and
memorials will be listed in the book to show
our gratitude for your generosity. The public-
cation schedule is not yet finalized, so dona-
tions will be accepted until further notice.
Checks should be made out to St. Francis Borgia,
with 175th in the memo line. We will use the name(s) on the
check for the Donors page, unless you request something dif-
ferent. If the donation is a memorial, please enclose a note that
says “Memorial” and shows the name that should be listed.
Any donations beyond the cost of the book and anniversary
events will go into the general fund of the parish. Donations
can be sent to or dropped off at the parish office or put in the
collection basket.
Questions? Contact Jean Kobin at pjkobin@sbcglobal.net.
Consecration to the Holy Family
On the Feast of the Holy Family (Dec. 29), the Knights of
Columbus invite everyone to join in a prayer of Consecration to
the Holy Family, entrusting yourself
and your family to the care and
protection of Jesus, Mary and
Joseph.
This loving act of total
surrender is a powerful way of
calling down God’s blessings as
we confront the many challenges
and struggles of family life today.
Please take a Consecration to
the Holy Family flyer from the
Information Station or visit www.kofc.org/consecration
to learn more about the Consecration and how you can best
prepare for it on Holy Family Sunday.

Year-end financial information
As the end of 2019 approaches, here are a few things you should be aware of regarding your St. Francis Borgia charitable do-
nations. These guidelines correspond to IRS regulations which stipulate that there is no donor “election” as to which calendar
year the donation applies.
• Any donations physically received at the parish office before noon on Tuesday, Dec. 31, 2019 will be credited to your 2019
contributions.
• All donations received by US Mail after Tuesday, Dec. 31, but postmarked Dec. 31 or earlier, will also be credited to your 2019
contributions. The ONLY exception to this would be if the check is dated for 2020.
• In the case of stock transfers, the donation date is the date that you (donor) relinquish control of the stock, not the date that
St. Francis (organization) receives it.
If you are planning a donation that you wish to be credited for 2019, the sooner you can accomplish this, the less stress you’ll
have those last few days of the year. Please note, the parish office will be closing at noon on Tuesday, Dec. 24 and will be closed
Wednesday, Dec. 25; Thursday, Dec. 26 and Wednesday, Jan. 1.
Year-end contribution statements reflecting your 2019 donation will be sent no later than Jan. 31, 2020. Should you have any
questions about your donations, please contact Jennifer Justman, parish accountant, at the parish office at 262-377-1070,
ext. 337.
CF classes resume in the new year!
Please see below for January dates.
March for Life bus trips - Washington, DC and Chicago
St. Francis Borgia will once again join with hundreds of thousands of joyful pro lifers in Washington, DC for the annual
March for Life on Friday, Jan. 24, 2020. We will travel on a coach bus departing Thursday, Jan. 23 at 3:30 p.m. and returning
Saturday, Jan. 25 by 10 a.m. Events include a youth rally and Mass, the march down Constitution Avenue and four hours of free
time to explore DC. The cost is $100 per person.
Please go to http://bit.ly/34SMIv2 to register or contact Tobey Neuberger at neuby5@hotmail.com or 262-376-8847.
If you can’t commit to a weekend away, perhaps you can make the one-day trip to Chicago on Saturday, Jan. 11. The cost for
bus transportation for this event is $30 per person or $85 per family of three or more. The departure site will depend on the
number who register.
For more information about the Chicago trip, please contact Julie Carufel at JulieCarufel@wi.rr.com or 262-285-5030.
And, of course, you’re most welcome to go on both trips!!

Parish electronic communications
Occasionally St. Francis Borgia Parish sends out messages electronically.
These messages provide a way to notify our parishioners in a timely fashion
should there be immediate information to share. They also serve to supplement
information found in the weekly bulletin.
If you would like to have your email added to the recipients’ list, you can do
that on the parish website: http://bit.ly/2YET3bt.
You can also contact the parish office and the staff would be happy to add
your contact information to the list. Email them at Parish@SFBChurch.org or
call the office at 262-377-1070.
Jan. 16 blood drive
St. Joseph and St. Francis Borgia parishes will again collaborate for an
American Red Cross blood drive coming up on Thursday, Jan. 16. The drive
will run from 1-6:30 p.m. and will take place in the church hall (lower level) of
SFB North (1375 Covered Bridge Road in Cedarburg.)
To make an appointment, visit RedCrossBlood.org and type in “53012” in
the “Give Blood” box in the upper right hand corner. Not a computer person?
Please call the Red Cross at 1-800-RED CROSS for assistance with an appoint-
ment.
Blood supplies are always low after the holidays. Please consider donating
to helping re-stock supplies for those facing medical emergencies. You will be
someone's hero – in fact, you could help save more than one life with just one
donation. Thank you!
Parish pictorial directories
We still have a number of directories in the parish office for those who had
a picture taken. We also have a supply of directories available for purchase
($5 each) if you didn’t have a picture taken, but would like a copy. Stop in or
contact the parish office if you would like one or have questions.
