BENEDICT TRIUMPHS AT SPORTS DAY!
St Clement’s Sports Day was another huge success this year! The Harrier Centre was filled with very
happy, smiley faces from children and adults alike.
The staff were hugely impressed by the determination and effort that the children displayed in all events,
both individual and house and the support and encouragement from children and parents was very
much appreciated. The skill and sportsmanship of the children has definitely developed over the past
few years and yesterday saw some magnificent improvements in every year group! The moral support
that was volunteered by Year 6 during the long distance races truly demonstrates the strong values of
our St Clement’s children.
We have been so lucky to have been able to use the athletics track over these past few weeks as it has
truly helped to develop the confidence of all the children. A huge thanks to all involved in organising and
contributing to such a successful day – we are already looking forward to next year!

DEANERY DAY On Tuesday 18th May Year 6 attended the Annual Deanery Day which, this year, took place at St Joseph’s,
Epsom. The children were very excited to take part in the activities which lay ahead and more importantly,
to meet up with other children from Deanery Schools and forge new friendships in preparation for secondary
school. Due to the wet weather the children only got to take part in two activities, rather than the usual three,
but they were great fun and covered all sorts of things, from the marshmallow challenge to the paper
aeroplane challenge; murder-mystery maths to mindfulness workshops. All of the children had the chance to
take part in ‘The Giant Deanery Quiz’ where they all showed how brilliantly knowledgeable they are!
After lunch, we took part in a liturgy which gave us the chance to think about the next big step that we are all
taking to Secondary School. We had time to pray together that we would all be safe and happy at our new
schools which was very comforting. Then before we knew it, it was time to head home.
St Clement’s children were beautifully behaved; standing out in their red uniforms amongst a sea of blue and
green! This made it so much clearer to see how well each of our children mixed with children from other
schools. If there had been a prize for ‘friendliest school’, St Clement’s would have won it hands down!
Deanery Day was a great day for Year 6 to meet new friends who would be going to the same school as them.
Hopefully they all left feeling more confident about that next step in their lives, which is getting closer and
closer… In our opinion though, it is clear that St Clement’s Year 6 will have no problem starting Secondary
School; look out… because here they come!
YEAR 3 HISTORY WORKSHOP
ROMANS Dressing up as a centurion and Boudicca,
re-enacting the Revolt of the Iceni, acting
as a Roman slave and Roman master and
practising some Roman army manoeuvres
were just a few of the activities enjoyed
by the children in their Roman workshop
with archaeologist, Mortimer Wheeler.
What a fantastic way to learn about the
Roman invasion of Britain and add to
their subject knowledge of this fantastic
ancient civilisation.
YEAR 4 HISTORY WORKSHOP
EGYPTIANS This week, the children in Year 4 enjoyed
meeting Mortimer Wheeler, an Egyptian
Archaeologist. Mortimer introduced them
to the fascinating history of the Ancient
Egyptians including the Pharaohs, the god
Rameses, mummification and the famous
battles of the day. This knowledgeable
archaeologist invited Year 4 to become
Egyptian explorers with him, to search for
artefacts, to re-create a battle and to act
out the roles of the Pharaohs. All the
children thoroughly enjoyed what proved
to be an amazing afternoon of learning.
YEAR 2 ASSEMBLY On Friday 14th June Year 2 performed their final assembly to conclude their time in Key Stage 1. The children
spoke clearly and confidently as they compared their journey through Reception and Key Stage 1 to that of a
tiny caterpillar turning into a beautiful butterfly. Through their time in Key Stage 1 they have developed the
skills and knowledge to help them as they start their new learning adventure in Key Stage 2.
The children shared lots of their memories and told us what they were looking forward to experiencing in Key
Stage 2. They also acted out some very funny sketches which provided much entertainment for the audience.
Their renditions of Hola, Hola, como estas? and Will.i.am's What I Am finished the assembly on a high note.
All in all, the children really excelled themselves.
On Wednesday 19th June, ten children from Year 5 went to
the Good Shepherd celebration, led by Bishop Richard
Moth. All schools from our diocese had representatives and
a great time was had by all. The children were lucky enough
to meet our Bishop after the service too. The children who
attended were brilliant ambassadors for St Clement's and
behaved exceptionally all day.

HOUSE MASS
On Tuesday 11th June, St Clare & St Margaret joined together, from Reception to Year 6, to dedicate the
Mass in honour of their patron saints. Thank you to Fr Graham for celebrating the Mass for us.
Oh God, who made St Margaret
of Scotland wonderful in her
outstanding charity towards the
poor, grant that through her
intercession and example, we may
reflect among all humanity the
image of your divine goodness.
Amen.
Glorious St Clare,
God has given you the power of working miracles
continually, and the favour of answering the prayers of
those who invoke your assistance in misfortune, anxiety,
and distress; we beseech you, obtain for us from Jesus,
through Mary, His Blessed Mother, what we beg of you so
fervently and hopefully, if it be for the greater honour and
glory of God and for the good of our souls.
Amen.
