Some remember walking up the sidewalk to church on Easter morning with their family. Mom wore a hat, Dad was in a suit, and the children had on their most beautiful Spring clothes. Others remem-ber searching for eggs and candy, then tearing into an Easter basket brimming with treats.
Christians give thanks for the resurrection of Christ, while others look forward to the daffodils and crocus’ to appear. Whatever your memories, Easter is a time of renewal and awakening.
Joining you in gratitude for Christ’s sacrifice and the joyful renewal it brings to all God’s children
this Easter season.

The stone was rolled away from the door,
not to permit Christ to come out,
but to enable the disciples to go in.

Nicene Creed I believe in one God, the Father almighty, maker of heaven and earth, of all things visible and invisible.
I believe in one Lord Jesus Christ, the Only Begotten Son of God, born of the Father before all ages. God from God, Light from Light, true God from true God, begotten, not made, consubstantial with the Father; through him all things were made. For us men and for our salvation he came down from heaven,
(all bow) and by the Holy Spirit was incarnate of the Virgin Mary, and became man.
For our sake he was crucified under Pontius Pilate, he suffered death and was buried, and rose again on the third day in accordance with the Scriptures. He as-cended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of the Father. He will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead and his kingdom will have no end. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the giver of life, who proceeds from the Father and the Son, who with the Father and the Son is adored and glorified, who has spoken through the prophets. I believe in one, holy, catholic and apostolic Church. I confess one Baptism for the forgiveness of sins and I look forward to the resurrection of the dead and the life of the world to come. Amen.

Gospel ~ John 20:1-9
On the first day of the week, Mary of Magdala came to the tomb early in the morning, while it was still dark, and saw the stone removed from the tomb. So she ran and went to Simon Pe-ter and to the other disciple whom Jesus loved, and told them, “They have taken the Lord from the tomb, and we don’t know where they put him.” So Peter and the other disciple went out and came to the tomb. They both ran, but the other disciple ran faster than Peter and arrived at the tomb first; he bent down and saw the burial cloths there, but did not go in. When Simon Peter arrived after him, he went into the tomb and saw the burial cloths there, and the cloth that had covered his head, not with the burial cloths but rolled up in a separate place. Then the other disciple also went in, the one who had arrived at the tomb first, and he saw and believed. For they did not yet understand the Scripture that he had to rise from the dead.
The Gospel of the Lord. Praise to you, Lord Jesus Christ.
Second Reading Letter of St. Paul to Colossians 3:1-4
Brothers and sisters: If then you were raised with Christ, seek what is above, where Christ is seated at the right hand of God. Think of what is above, not of what is on earth. For you have died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God. When Christ your life appears, then you too will appear with him in glory.
The word of the Lord. Thanks be to God. OR
Letter of St. Paul to Corinthians 5:6-8
Brothers and sisters: Do you not know that a little yeast leavens all the dough? Clear out the old yeast, so that you may become a fresh batch of dough, inasmuch as you are unleavened. For our paschal lamb, Christ, has been sacri-ficed. Therefore, let us celebrate the feast, not with the old yeast, the yeast of malice and wickedness, but with the unleavened bread of sincerity and truth.
The word of the Lord. Thanks be to God.
Responsorial Psalm This is the day the Lord has made;
let us rejoice and be glad.
Easter Sunday ~ The Resurrection of the Lord April 4, 2021
First Reading ~ Acts of the Apostles 10:34, 37-43
Peter proceeded to speak and said: “You know what has hap-pened all over Judea, beginning in Galilee after the baptism that John preached, how God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and power. He went about doing good and heal-ing all those oppressed by the devil, for God was with him. We are witnesses of all that he did both in the country of the Jews and in Jerusalem. They put him to death by hanging him on a tree. This man God raised on the third day and granted that he be visible, not to all the people, but to us, the witnesses chosen by God in advance, who ate and drank with him after he rose from the dead. He commissioned us to preach to the people and testify that he is the one appointed by God as judge of the living and the dead. To him all the prophets bear witness, that every-one who believes in him will receive forgiveness of sins through his name.” The word of the Lord. Thanks be to God.

Year of St. Joseph December 8, 2020—December 8, 2021
Catholics around the world rejoice over the Holy Father’s opening of the Holy Year of St. Joseph to commemorate the 150th An-niversary of the Proclamation of Saint Jo-seph as Patron of the Universal Church. The entire Archdiocese of Philadelphia is encouraged to spend this year growing closer to St. Joseph by honoring him, imitating his virtues and asking for his interces-sion. To find local events, prayers and faith study resources to celebrate the Year of St. Joseph, visit archphila.org/joseph.
Prayer to St. Joseph
Saint Joseph, man of prayer, help us to stand with you before God, humble, attentive, faith-filled, awaiting the loving mercy of His Providence. Teach us to pray, as you did, with the inner simplicity and trust of silent prayer and the purity and strength of worship in union with our brothers and sisters. The whole world is your child, Joseph. Be protector and advocate for the searching and the sorrowing, the struggling and the straying, for all of us who long for peace and the fullness of life. Take our lives, our times, our needs into your fatherly care so that we may follow Christ Jesus down pathways of holiness and wholeness. Enfold us and those we love in your prayer, O father Joseph. Obtain for us the daily bread of grace we need for this life, so that we may come at last in your company to the eternal joys of Heaven. Amen
