STEWARDSHIP: A WAY OF LIFE Sharing: Time Talent Treasure YOUR CROSS OR MINE Over heard: A man and woman entered the dentist’s office, went up to the desk in some urgency and the woman spoke: “ I would like a tooth pulled now--no novocain or gas or any other pain killer.” The dentist upon hearing this ex-claimed: “You are a very brave woman.” The woman then turned to her husband and said “Open your mouth, John, and show the dentist which tooth it is.” How often have we been present to another’s discomfort and deep down were relieved that this problem was not ours. In this life should everything uncomfortable, sad, painful, etc . happen to others and not me? Guilty feelings not withstanding, we hope that life’s problems and painful experiences would happen elsewhere. But God gave us His only begotten Son and He went through unimaginable horrors for all of us in this world. And He was divine and need not know any of it. But His humanity did accept all of it. Jesus took up His Cross and said to us that we must ‘take up our cross and follow Him.’ Neither He or His Father promised anyone the perfect life. No one is exempt from life’s down side. And we all know that some people seem to get more than their fair share. We first need to be accountable for those negative issues for which we are responsible. And we need to recognize the unhappiness need in others who are suffering in some way. “Love one another as I have loved you.” Jesus’ words remind us that we are all in this temporary life together and we need to notice each other in order to love and care beyond ourselves. Maybe we are no more able to do anything ex-cept pray. So do it for the neighbor, the stranger, the friend or relative you don’t particularly like. Liking is not loving. Loving is what we do in God’s name. A shared cross is a lighter cross. A prayer can cure. And we have no idea how powerful it can become or how far it extends. Everybody will wince at another’s discomfort. It is what we do with our wince that matters to our Lord. Stewardship Questions: Kathy Reilly 781-444--0862 email: kreilly15@yahoo.com If anyone needs a ride to a church service or wishes a home or Communion visit, please contact me. HAPPY 4th OF JULY. And remember our independence is owed to many. For you we pray...............
