Objective/Learning Target:

The student will practice making the /t/ phoneme and apply the sound to word, phrase, and sentence production.

Background Information

The /t/ sound is a sound that is typically produced correctly once a child is 6 years of age.

Here is a chart of when sounds are typically produced.

Totally Terrific “T” Sound

The /t/ speech phoneme is made by opening your mouth and placing the tip of your tongue on the gum behind your upper teeth. You blow it away with a puff of air.

Now let’s try saying some sentences with the T sound in

them.

Use your beginning T sound in these sentences.

Use your ending T sound in these sentences.

Find things in your house or yard that have the T sound.

Practice saying the words and put them in sentences.

More Practice:Let’s play a game.

Find one of your family members to help you play this game. You

are going to give them clues to see if they can guess one of your

words in the lesson. For example: It is green and it hops.

Answer: It is a toad. If they guess the word. You will use the

word in a sentence. For example: I see a green toad. If they do

not guess the word, then you say the word five times. Example:
