The electronic expansion valve
In the frigorific circuit, the expansion valve has a key role and its proper operation provides
security to the system as well as optimize the operation from an energy standpoint.
The more traditional expansion valves and more used up to now, are those defined as
“thermostatic with external equalizer.” The main functions of this valve are mainly two: to
reduce the pressure inside the circuit, setting the refrigerant evaporates, check the value of
overheating, to ensure full freon gas inlet of the compressor.
The action of this type of valve can be defined as thermo-up of a membrane positioned
within act three different pressures: that of evaporation, that of a return spring which also
serves to superheat setting, the external equalizer, contrary to the first two.
The answers so far are certainly valid, but limited in accuracy and, above all, the ability to
adapt to sudden changes in operating conditions.
Thanks to electronics, has led to a totally new valve: the “electronic expansion valve”.
Perhaps, rather than a single element we should speak of the system because there are
various components that make up this new system.
The mechanical part that bears on the head of the electrical connectors, cables specially
crafted link, the electronic management and control.
The cards are also achieved by signals from temperature sensors and pressure scattered
along the circuit.
The “Electronic Expansion System”, after receiving information from sensors, compares
the various parameters and sends the command to open or close mechanical element. But
even greater is the evidence that all assessments are carried out in a very short time and
then, the answer to the system is also very fast.
Considering the change in operating conditions, a longer span of time, you get a linear
response rather surprising. In some plants was measured energy optimization that led to a
global savings of up to 15%, very significant value that drives us to think how important it is
to make the right design evaluations.

The compressors
Euroklimat uses several types of compressors to meet the different needs of use: the classic
“scroll” to the innovative “semi-hermetic screw.
But the emphasis on industrial applications and production process leads Euroklimat to
take often compressors “semi-hermetic alternatives” that are still today one of the most
popular and reliable components. The concept is simple: a cylinder, inside which a piston
works, allows the suction of the refrigerant gas and the subsequent compression.Two plates
valves installed on respective chambers of recovery and discharge, supervise the functio-
ning of the system ensuring the flow of refrigerant in the circuit. The lubrication system,
finally, achieved through a forced circulation of specific oil provides an adequate guarantee
of functionality over time.
The oil level is constantly monitored by the operator through a glass clearly visible outside
of the compressor (3 / 4 maximum - 1 / 4 minimum). Great advantage of these compressors
is the total internal accessibility which promotes restoration on site. The heads, the electric
motor and all components are completely removed. The practicality, together with the great
knowledge that operators have of this device, enable it to intervene without having to unplug
the compressor from, saving time and transfers often costly and complex.
The control of cooling capacity, using a special “valve solenoid” on the head of the com-
pressor, reduces the potential provided by following a precise request of the load.
The figure just above diagram is the action of the compressor without the intervention of
the valve (left) or by the action of the latter (right): 1) solenoid valve; 2) vacuum chamber; 3)
compression chamber; 4) plug; 5) spring; 6) head.
In practice, canceling the effect of pumping a portion of the cylinder, changing the total flow
of the fluid and, therefore, its cooling capacity.
The flexibility of the product does not stop here because over the years have been studied
and used several interesting and really surprising. For example, in cases of great need refri-
geration compressors may be connected together by combining suction and discharge (the
link is configured at the factory by the manufacturer).

The most delicate problem of every modern company is to be able to provide rapid, accu-
rate and complete informations.
The evolution of communications technology has led to significantly reduce the time avai-
lable to produce the answers and to make matters worse, the specialized technical/
production which has been gaining increasing, has allowed companies to expand product

considered a must taking advantage of this huge potential creating a website very articulate
and detailed, providing an important support to all customers: here it is the “webservice”.
The simple and intuitive interface of the site allows you to “surf” quickly and easily reach
the pages or news of interest. A real direct link between customer and company, obtained
thanks to the interactivity of the platform, represents a major “plus” of this system, more
than ever necessary to forward the significant technological innovations or achievements.
“webservice” by Euroklimat is a versatile tool and at the same time rich and able to meet
more different needs: the simply curious internet surfer or the refrigeration technician can
find “on-line” clear answers and complete documents.
Within the various sections, it contains general information about the company, its history,
the correct contacts, pages dedicated to Euroklimat certifications, a few important installa-
tions. But the most interesting and detailed areas concern the access and the availability to
download documents. The sections named as “Download” and “Eurokey” respectively allow
you to save on your computer the catalogs and the unit selection software.
Last but not least, the area that has given his name to the whole site provides access to
detailed documentation of every single machine: dimensional drawing, schematic diagram,
spare part list, confirmation ‘order, instruction manuals… Arranged and designed for the

Base frame in galvanized sheet steel, stove-enamelled with polyurethane powders and is
equipped with bearing foot, for fixed installation. Internal metal works in galvanized sheet
steel. Drip tray for rain water collection in case of outside installation, complete with type
discharge fitting connectable without disassembling any panel. Frame is made in anodized
aluminium profiles, using aluminium-alloy angle-joints. Panels in galvanized steel, externally
coated with PVC film. Fastening to aluminium frame by stainless steel screws, fitted on pa-
nels’ edg. Air-tight gaskets on panels’ edges, made in polyurethane with dual density
Axial fan directly coupled to the electric motor, 4 or 6 poles, external rotor type, with special
labyrinth watertight, bearings free from servicing and incorporated thermal protection. Fans
have blades with haul profile, dinamically and statically balanced and are equipped with
accident prevention grill on air inlet.
RECIPROCATING semihermetic compressor, complete with forced lubricated system, oil
electrical heater when unit on standby, isolation valve on gas inlet. Electrical motor is cooled
by refrigerant gas in suction and is protected against working anomalies by integral electro-
nic protection and thermistors embedded in windings. Compressors are fitted on antivibra-
tion mountings. For models from 81 to 1602 they are supplied with unloaded head, to adapt
cooling capacity in case of reduction of thermal needs.
Air cooled condenser, composed by a thermal exchange battery, with copper tubes me-
chanically expanded, into aluminium fins coil.Vertically fitted, together with fan it is comple-
tely separated from the remaining components and is protected against incidental shocks,
thanks to a grill integrated with panel.
PLATE type evaporator made of AISI 316 steel complete with water differential pressure
switch. Shell covered with closed cell neoprene anti condensate material.
Refrigerant circuit is completely made in braze welded copper tube with silver alloy and is
insulated on suction part, to avoid creation of condensate. It is complete with safety device.
From 502 to 1602 model, there is a double indipendent circuit. Main components are:
Refrigerant filter with mechanical and dehydrating action, of molecular-sieve type.
Liquid sight-glass with colour-change indicator for checking gas charge and humidity.
Solenoid valve on liquid line.
Rotalock valve on the liquid line.
Oil separator.
Liquid accumulator.
Electronic expansion valve (from model 81 included).
High pressure switch with automatic reset.
Low pressure switch with automatic reset.
Oil pressure differential switch, with manual reset.

from 502 up to 1602, with equalization of working hours. Anti-freeze protection. Digital
display operator interface. Connection for serial output (optional). Alarms management

Available accessories
The EKE-LT series includes many accessories to adapt the unit features to the different
operating applications. Some of them can be fitted even on site, while installing the unit,
while others must necessarily be defined when ordering it since they involve main changes
that cannot be completed on site. Some accessories cannot be fitted together and other
ones are available on selected models only; therefore verifying the possible configurations
with the Euroklimat sales office is necessary before ordering a unit.
The available accessories are the following:

• Gauges for refrigerant low and high pressures, embedded in glycerine

• Pressure relief valve / by-pass
• Kit open expansion vessel for the operation of the units in an open circuit, complete
with: a container for the filling of the circuit; structural support; connection pipes;
valves; small fixing.

Units identification
The EKE_LT range consists of water chillers with axial fans. Thanks to the special design and components used, these units can be installed
outdoor even without any protection or coverings. The care of the details and the rich equipment of the units, which are of “package” type,
facilitate the positioning and fitting to the system, reducing the installation activity only to electrical and plumbing connections. The following
diagram clarifies the meaning of the identification code and of the configuration options.
