In partnership with our community, we will ignite a passion for lifelong participation in the arts in every student. This is achieved by forging individual pathways to success for each learner within a caring, collaborative, communicative learning community.
Who are our students?
More than 1,200 students will take Visual Art
courses in 50 different sections.
More than 650 students in 16 performing music
ensembles participate in more than 65
performances annually.
More 175 student musicians in 7 sections of
non-performing music courses.
Who are our students?
Of the more than 3,000 students enrolled at
DGS, nearly 1,800 of these students will
have an experience in art or music during
the 2012-2013 school year.

The AP Portfolio assesses

Students are introduced to musicianship, theory of
music, and the formal elements of music.
AP Music Offerings
AP Music Theory
Skills such as sight-singing, keyboard skills,
listening, and harmonic and rhythmic dictation are
also covered in this course.

Since 1992, over 80% of the students who have
taken this course and taken the AP Exam have
received passing scores.
