Sociology Defined

Sociology is the social science that studies human society and social behavior.

What do sociologists study?

a) Sociologists are mainly interested in social interaction – how people relate to one another and influence each other’s behavior.

b) Sociologists study phenomena: an observable fact or event

Observing and thinking about social life in a systematic, scientific way

By adopting a sociological perspective, we are able to look beyond commonly held beliefs to the hidden meanings behind human actions.

Helps us see that we are social beings
