SMFR FF Bailout Refresher 6/15

Setup

• Setup for RIGHT side pocket.

• Setup for LEFT side pocket.

Setup

• Rope comes from the bag, in the back of device and out the front of device.

• Correct distance from device to hook for storage and deployment.

Storage

• Bag stored in right or left pant pocket.• Yellow ring secured back with Velcro strap.• Reflective grab strap accessible.

Optional

• Short lanyard/webbing can be affixed to opposite side ring for tie off point.

Deployment• Locate strap • Deploy hook and

device.

Deployment

• Place hook in corner of window.

• Hold hook solid while exiting.

Deployment

• Roll out head first staying low.

• Transition to upright.

Deployment

• Hand comes up grabbing rope AND device.

• Pull down to descend. Let up to stop.

Maintenance

• The bag and contents should be emptied and reloaded periodically.– Check rope for damage and ensure it’s dry.– Make sure carabiner is locked and connected to

YELLOW connection point on belt.– Confirm knot on hook is tight.– Check that rope hasn’t formed a knot in the bag.– Check belt and other materials for excessive wear.

Training• Contact the Training Bureau if you wish to

train at the JSF tower. (They will check availability and schedule you.)

• The following prop (next slide) has been built to use at 34’s for low level high repetition evolutions. Contact your BC to schedule time there.

No belay lines are needed on these however a

spotter is mandatory.

Additional higher options – belay setup by a current Tech member of 34’s or 45’s.
