Sixth Grade Summer Reading Packet

2012 Dear Parents, Included are some samples of reading and comprehension pages your child should work on this summer. Completing daily reading and comprehension will help your child reach their potential. After completing these you can find more pages like this at stores like Lakeshore, on the Internet, or you can use age-appropriate magazine articles. The most important way to improve your child’s reading skills is by ensuring they continue to practice reading a variety of materials/books throughout the summer. As a guideline, your child will benefit greatly from enjoyment reading 30 minutes daily whenever time allows. Once a week, take time to discuss the book your child is reading and the progress they have made. An even better option – have your child write you a weekly journal or friendly letter describing what they have learned from reading for the week! Perhaps, on this day – you and your child could find time to read a chapter together, discuss the letter/journal and have some quality time together (maybe over an ice cream cone). Happy Reading, Mrs. Iannucci Ms. Kreft Mr. Mader
