SKR9/SK10
In 1933 the merger of Aveling and Porter with Barford and Perkins, the UK’s leading manufacturer of
steam powered road rollers, gave birth to a driving force in precision engineering – Aveling-Barford.
Diversifying to meet the needs of the growing market for motor powered construction equipment,
Aveling-Barford introduced the UK to its first Barford site dumper in 1936. Now owned and run by the
Wordsworth family group of companies, Barford continue to pride themselves on a long heritage of
creating innovative, robustly engineered, reliable dumpers. In keeping with this ethos, Barford have
introduced the market to the largest most powerful site dumpers in the UK – the Barford SK Series.
Historically, Barford pioneered the 9 tonne forward tipping dumper to meet increasing pressure for
site efficiency. Following this tradition, the SK Series have been designed to take things even further
by introducing the first 10 tonne forward tipping (SK10), and the first 9 tonne rotary tipping (SKR9),
site dumpers. Design, specification and manufacturing all meet strict European standards to ensure
the operator’s safety, and a full manufacturer’s warranty and added support of national and
international dealer networks provide the peace of mind of knowing that the SK Series have the
power, efficiency and support to get the job done faster!

9As advocates of new ideas Barford believe in giving you a real alternative to the ’norm‘. Now you can
break free from the pack with SKR9 – the largest rotary tipping dumper on the market. With a load
capacity of 9 tonnes and a swivelling skip, SKR9 provides the competitive edge you need.
Unrivalled power, courtesy of a 94kw turbo charged inter-cooled engine, and high floatation tyres as
standard mean that SKR9 makes easy work of terrain where the average 9 tonne forward tipping
dumper will bog down.
Safe working practice was of paramount importance in the design of the SK Series. Every dumper is
fitted with an over centre valve to ensure measured power is delivered to the tipping rams for better
off-loading in difficult conditions. A wide rear chassis creates a lower centre of gravity for increased
stability, whilst still maintaining a ‘footprint’ suitable for loading on to standard transportation.
Superior skip geometry, manufactured using 8 mm thick steel plate and precision bending further
increases machine stability and ensures that the SKR9 passes all ‘tilt table tests’ when loaded.

SKR9 FEATURES
SK Series dumpers benefit from innovativedesign features such as this secureinboard battery locker.
Precise tipping is made easy throughSKR9’s joystick control which allows fluidfour-way movement of the skip .

SKR9 facts at a glance
10Boost your earth moving efficiency with Barford’s SK10, the ‘true’ 10 tonne site dumper. Powered by a
potent 94kw turbo charged, inter-cooled engine, fitted to all the Barford SK Series site dumpers,
the SK10 sets new standards in productivity, surpassing smaller site dumpers in its stride. Heavy duty
axles and a rigid chassis work in harmony with high floatation tyres to ensure SK10 doesn’t squander
its superior power when the going gets tough.
In common with SKR9, SK10 features superior skip geometry and a wide rear chassis with a low
centre of gravity for increased stability. Despite its massive capacity SK10 also maintains a ‘footprint’
appropriate for loading on to standard transportation and passes all ‘tilt table tests’ when loaded.
A Joystick allows precise skip control, and rams governed by a hydraulic system, fitted as standard
with an ‘over centre valve’, provide even and safe tipping of the wettest loads. Practicality is further
enhanced by sturdy rear mud guards which form a full working platform either side of SK10’s stable
chassis. Combine all of these features and you have the most efficient site dumper available when it
comes to sheer ‘earth moving’ ability.
