News from the Clubhouse by Marty Clegg, Secy/Treas
For the second month in a row, the monthly meeting of the Falls City
Mustang Club met at the home of Steve and Nancy Merritt due to the New
Albany American Legion remaining closed. Steve welcomed everyone to
the meeting and announced that he anticipated the American Legion would
be available for the July meeting. Marty Clegg, Sec/Treasurer, reported on
the club finances along with passing out copies of the treasurer’s report to
everyone. Steve and Mason Broughton reported on the donation and
delivery of donuts to three area hospitals in appreciation of the health care
workers at each facility. Kamos Glover, Road Boss, proposed a new and
different route to the annual Somerset Somernites weekend in August,
assuming the event would be held. Brenda Clegg, Membership
Chairperson, announced one new membership, John and Sharon Gerding of
Louisville who own a 2019 red GT convertible. The only upcoming car
show at this time is at the Sportsdrome Speedway on July 18. Steve
announced that he would be hosting the June monthly cruise-in on his
property being as our regular cruise-in location would not be available yet.
He does anticipate the Sellersburg McDonald’s allowing the cruise-in to
resume in July. In light of no car shows among the sister Mustang clubs,
Steve is looking into the possibility of a gathering this summer of the sister
clubs, Queen City Mustangers, Hoosier Mustang Club, Indy Mustang Club,
Derby City Mustang Club, such as a picnic at a centrally located park. This
coming Saturday, June 20, Brandon and Amy Grant will host a Mustang
pony trail with a drive to Madison on the Indiana side then after a stop,
return down the Kentucky side to their home for pizza and a pool party.
Steve and Nancy are planning a pony trail this summer to Indiana Caverns;
details will be forthcoming. Marty and Brenda will host the annual
breakfast and poker run on September 12. Steve reminded everyone of the
upcoming officer elections at the July meeting. Chris Moorman reported
that the annual NSRA Street Rod Nationals are on track to be held the first
weekend in August at the Kentucky Fairgrounds. The annual review of
FCMC bylaws in April did not take place due to the meeting not being held,
so Steve asked everyone if there were any changes or additions to be made.
Kamos Glover was a feature story in a recent MCA Mustang Times with a
five page spread of his travels to all 48 states in his 2014 Hertz Penske
Mustang. The monthly cash drawing, after a series of rollovers, was won
by Mickey Riley. Of the $100 winnings, Mickey generously donated $40
back to the FCMC. Regarding dining prior to the July meeting, it will either
by at the meeting location, the American Legion or the Floyd County
Brewhouse on Main Street in New Albany. Details will be posted soon.
Being no further business, the meeting was adjourned.
