Use delayed Doppler mapping instrument to measure sea surface roughness and retrieve sea surface wind

Madden-Julian Oscillation

Project Objectives:

1. To use DYNAMO field campaign as a pre-launch case study for CYGNSS mission, with the emphasis on the surface wind perturbations associated with organized convective systems.

2. To use the COAWST model output to derive synthetic CYGNSS data for the purpose of facilitating pre-launch researches and algorithm testing/development.

Future Plans

Repeat the current case study using the latest COAWST release;

Next step is to add SWAN model to the coupled COAWST simulations, and to compared model simulations with DYNAMO observations.
