Areas of applicationSicat Master supports the most important phases of engineering processes for mass transit and main line services.
Preliminary project engineering makes it possible to produce documents that are needed for preparation the bid.
Structure of engineering
Program structure of Sicat Master
When it comes to actual engineering of the overhead contact line, the combina-tion of our IT tools and the know-how of our engineers ensure a consistently high level of engineering quality. The planning documents necessary for material procure-ment and for the structural measures are
also drawn up in the process. Furthermore, this creates the basis for high installation quality and logistics support for mainte-nance.
The planning and engineering of overhead contact line projects is explained by the program structure of Sicat Master.
All data, such as general data relating to materials and type of construction, custo-mer data or project planning data, are sto-red in central databases and can be upda-ted with the aid of master data editors.

Catenary design module
On the basis of the track layout data and the process data, the overhead contact line system is planned in the catenary design module. A large number of functions and diverse forms of display support the engi-neer in this process:
Functions for creating, editing and deleting overhead contact line ele-ments
catenaries attachment points poles cantilevers, multiple-track cantile- vers
tunnel supports cross spans and yokes switches, insulators, connectors, section insulators
traction power lines Display of cross sections Calculation and display of catenary dips Creation and editing of traction power lines (reinforcement cables/feeder lines and return lines)
Insertion of section insulators and tensioning devices from an extensive library
Functions for automation dimension- ing and labeling
Project management
Project management is the central part of the program in which general project data are organized, customer data are managed and project engineering functions are initi-ated.
Project engineering
For project engineering itself, there are the ‚Process data‘, ‚Track layout‘ and ‚Catenary design‘ modules.
Process data module
Process data are specifi ed values for the project engineering and are stored on the project level. In the process data, all the parameters, such as dimensions, materials and their constants, ambient conditions etc., are assigned to the types of catenary and contact line construction. During project engineering, these values are then used to calculate the design of the required overhead contact line system.
Track layout module
The track layout data –a three-dimensional description of the track pattern – are important starting data for the engineer-ing of contact lines. The track layout description plays a crucial role in the qual-ity of project engineering and the system to be designed.
Track layout module: Editor for track elements
Catenary design module: Cross section
Process data module: Editor for environmental data
The types of overhead contact lines that conform to interoperability requirements, such as Sicat HA and Sicat SA, as well as the standard types used by German Rail (DB AG), such as Re250 and Re330, are stored together with their respective char-acteristics in the process data as a standard feature. In addition, new types of contact line can be created here, for example, for customizing purposes.
The track layout data can be recorded as follows:
Entry according to Gauss-Krüger coor- dinates by means of
a structured text fi le graphic dialog box data import from the DB AG geo- metrical information system (DB-GIS)
Copying from dxf fi les An extensive library of switches with stan-dard point designs facilitates entry of data.
Calculation algorithms, such as the algo-rithms for longitudinal span length opti-mization and for the defi nition of reusable catenary installation blocks, ensure effi -cient project planning and engineering. Furthermore, they permit the analysis of the static loads on poles together with their built-on parts.

Version 2.0.1 / No. A6Z08111126736The information in this document contains general descriptions of the technical options available, which do not always have to be present in individual cases. If not stated otherwise, we reserve the right to include modifications, especially regarding the stated values and dimensions.
Outputs
There are diverse options for output of the data.
Layout plans, cross sections and longi- tudinal sections of catenary dips can be imported into CAD programs in the dxf format.
Pole lists, catenary lists, quantity data and similar are used for project logis-tics and can also serve as the basis for maintenance work.
Export
Interfaces to other IT tools complete inte-gration in the project engineering process.
Based on the catenary and environmen-tal parameters from Sicat Master and also additional pantograph parameters, Sicat Dynamic simulates the dynamic interaction between pantograph and contact line with the help of a special mathematical model.
Sicat Candrop uses the track geometry and mast locations imported from Sicat Master to calculate production lists for cantilever and dropper manufacture.
Sicat Matlog provides support in the com-ponent selection and in material logistics and, thanks to its interface to Sicat Master, is always up-to-date with the latest state of the project engineering process.
