Should fathers be allowed paternity leave?

By: Alexis N. Gee

I think all fathers should be allowed to have paternity leave as well as the mothers, who are allowed maternity leave. This gives the

father a chance to bond with his newborn baby.

What is Paternity Leave?

• The time a father can take off from his current job to spend with his newborn child.

Why should fathers get leave?

• Bond with the newborn

• Take care of household things

• Take care of the family as well

Qualifications for leave

• The man has to be the biological father or the adoptive father of the child.

• He has to have a job.

DNA

• If the father has started a new job, he has to work a full year before he takes off for leave.

• Paternity leave all around the world is different . Not every country or state has the same notifications.

•Many people believe that fathers shouldn’t have paternity leave.

• A mother has to go through 9 months of changes with her body and her emotions.

Could a man deal with all of the things a mother has to go through with pregnancy???

Real Life example• Years ago a woman had a sex change to be a man and then she/ he wound

up getting pregnant. The story was featured on Oprah and was aired nationally. It caused a lot of controversy. The man to day has had 3 children and has separated from his wife.

• In conclusion, I believe every father should have a chance to take off leave to spend with his newborn child. Not only is it benefiting him but it benefits the mother and the baby.
