DESIGNERMANIFESTORESEARCH - FUTURIST MANIFESTO

At the beginning of this project we got assigned into random groups and got given a project to research a manifesto. In my group was Emily, Dmitry, Tiffany and Andrew,Tavis. I didn’t really speak to any of these people from last year, so it was interesting getting to know new people. We was given the manifesto of futureisum and we had to go off and research about this and present it by next week.

Thefirstthingwefoundout was about F.T Marinetti who invented the futurist manifesto. Here are some of his points.

1.We want to sing the love of danger, the habit of energy and rashness.2.The essential elements of our poetry will be courage, audacity and revolt, literature has up tonowmagnifiedpensiveimmobility, ecstasy and slumber. 3.We want to exalt movements of aggression, feverish sleeplessness, the double march, the perilous leap, the slapandtheblowwiththefist.

All together there was elven points and each of theseinfluencedthefutureand the future today is still effected by the futurists from films, books, peopleetc.

We found out some other movies and people that was influencedbythefuturists.Firstwasthefilm5-Elementdirected by Luc Besson, this filmwasinspiritedbyAntonioSant’elia architecture . Antonio Sain’Elia was also inspired by the futurists he believed that he could be the architecture for the future. Its a shame that he only lived until he was 21 years old and died, his work still lives on in architectures today.

Finally we had to present this to the class and what we found out about it, I think it went pretty well

DESIGNERMANIFESTORESEARCH - DESIGNER MANIFESTO

By Jonathan Smith

For our research we looked at a lot of designers in general but we thought that we are at the University of the Creative arts why don’t we ask some designers here as-well ? We asked them a number of questions they thought the role of the designer was and their outcomes was all different.

I believed that all designers have a different understand on what their manifesto could be so we had to simplify our designer manifesto on what we found out with our research.

1. Inspiration2. Process3. Creativity4. Communication

We also tried to gather designer information from real people in the industry but I’m afraid they didn’t contact us back, either our last year tutor Tony Manor refused to take part in this video, I went back to my old college to speak with Illustrator Paul Oakley, because he told me he was in the industry of design to, but when I got their apparently he quit his job to carry on with his freelance work, that is a shame that this happened

DESIGNERMANIFESTOPRACTICAL - FINAL MANIFESTO

By Jonathan Smith By Jonathan Smith

“ For our manifesto we decided to present it with video. Firstly we wanted to show the main manifesto points of the designer which was, inspiration, process, creativity and communication. Thefinalscenariowechosetodo was made up by all of us. At the start a designer is working and he is struggled with his project. He then gets stressed out then goes outside.A magical pair of glasses fall from the sky ( like a gift from god ) giving him the vision to see as a graphic designer and analysis everything he can see.He walks and then meets up with one of his friends also sharing the new power of vision. At the end he goes back and his happy that he can complete his project because the inspiration he collected helped him a lot.

We chose to make it a little bit humorous because I think that humour makes people engage with the video more, the glasses show creativity, meeting people shows communication, inspiration is collected throughout the video we tired to include as many points as we cou

DESIGNERMANIFESTOPRACTICAL- DOCUMENTRY

For my documentry I gathered all my footage from starttofinishoftheentireproject. I wanted to include everything into my documentry to explain clearly of what we had to do.

I deisgned my docuementry firslyinaftereffectsbecauseiwas more experienced in this then any other video editing program but after meeting Emma she showed us that Primeier is much better to use becuase it renders as you work on it, since I found this out it saved me alot of time.

Throughout my Documentry I desided to add all the journey me and my group did and make it look engaging as possiable. I desided to add in a soundtrack over the top so it will just keep you calm while watching, I also added a voice over from my group mate Emily becuase my voice is very deep and nutrual, I wanted more a calming effect to my video when watching.

Overall I think my documentry looks ok, I listen to Eva’s advice in making the clips fast becuase people take in information very quickly these days, so each clip is around 2 seconds long
