Setting up the Gujarati Unicode Keyboard Layout in windows XP

1. Click Start button and select Control Panel ( see below image)

2. Now click on control panel... you will get a window like below

3. Click on "Date, Time, Language, and Regional Options" from it. Then you will get a window like below :

4. Click on "Regional and Language Options". Then you will get a window like below :

5. Please click on the Languages Tab. You will be able to see as below

6. Check both boxes and click the “OK” button. It may ask for you to insert the windows XP installation CD. Like below.

7. Insert the windows XP CD in your CD Drive and click ok. It will install all languages (fonts, keyboards and other needed files). After the installation/ (File copying process) are over, it will ask you for restarting your machine. Please do that. After restarting your machine. Again open “Regional and Language Options” same way… Click “Start” button>>”Control Panel” >> “Date, Time, Language, and Regional Options”>> “Regional and Language Options”.

Please click on the “Language Tab”. This time you will be able to see as below image: Click on “Details” Button.

8. You will get the following window from there click on “Add” button for adding Gujarati Language Keyboard.

9. You will get a window titled as "Add Input Language" like below: select "Gujarati" from "Input Language" Then From "Keyboard layout/IME" select your customized Gujarati Keyboard Like "Gujarati Indic IME" or any other which you have already installed. You will find the selected keyboard layout in the list. (If you don't have any customized keyboard for Gujarati, you can use "Gujarati" given by Microsoft, but before using that keyboard, you need to know which Gujarati alphabets are mapped to which key of keyboard. For that you can use "Office XP/2000 Add-in: Microsoft Visual Keyboard", which is free for downloading from Microsoft's web site.) (You can select more than one layout one by one...if you wish)

10. Click on “OK” Button… You will be back to the previous “Text Services and Input Languages” window. In this window you can see you’re customized “Gujarati Keyboard is configured with “Gujarati Language”.

11. Now Click “OK” Button of every window for finishing the settings. You will find the language bar on your desktop like the image below.

12. Now open notepad or any other application where you want to type in

Gujarati Unicode then click on EN English (United States) on Language Bar, It will give you the list of languages you have set to use on your machine.
