Be at Peace with Yourself
“Love thy neighbour as you love thyself.” Ever thought about it? Most of our answers would
be a big 'NO'. What could be the reason behind our such an attitude? The reason is quite
simple - In this jet age, we have lost our moral values and are so full of hatred that we tend to
think about ourselves only - myself, my parents, my things and so on...
Such scenarios described above may lead to a solitary life, full of sadness, isolation and often
prove catastrophic, may be beyond remediation and we may be left alone. And at times
leading a lonely life can be a cumbersome task. What we need is mutual love, harmony and
cooperation with not only our near and dear ones but even those who are unknown to us; so
that Mother Earth becomes a paradise, with hatred becoming extinct in our heart. What a
wonderful place it would be, with peace all around...
People often say that I have an uncanny habit of telling anecdotes, which are often
intertwined with lessons for life. I wonder how many times they are right. In perpetuation of
the same is another interesting tale, which I hope would give an insight into creating peace
not with other people but also with ourselves.
A kindergarten teacher had decided to let her class play a game. The teacher told each child in
the class to bring along a plastic bag containing a few potatoes. Each potato will be given a
name of a person that the child hates. So the number of potatoes that a child will put in his/her
plastic bag will depend on the number of people he/she hates.
So when the day came, every child brought some potatoes with the name of the people he/she
hated. Some had 2 potatoes, some 3 while some up to 5 potatoes. The teacher then told the
children to carry the potatoes in the plastic bag with them wherever they go for 1 week. Days
after days passed, and the children started to complain due to the unpleasant smell let out by
the rotten potatoes. Besides, those having 5 potatoes also had to carry heavier bags. After 1
week, the children were relieved because the game had finally ended.
The teacher asked: “How did you feel while carrying the potatoes with you for 1 week?” The
children let out their frustrations and started complaining of the trouble that they had to go
through having to carry the heavy and smelly potatoes wherever they go.
Then the teacher told them the hidden meaning behind the game. The teacher said: “This is
exactly the situation when you carry your hatred for somebody inside your heart. The stench
of hatred will contaminate your heart and you will carry it with you wherever you go. If you
cannot tolerate the smell of rotten potatoes for just 1 week, can you imagine what is it like to
have the stench of hatred in your heart for your lifetime?”
The takeaway is: Throw away any hatred for anyone from your heart so that you will not
carry burden for a lifetime. Forgiving others is the best attitude to take. Negativity about
someone will keep peace of your mind away from you. Remember the good things about
him/her, and let go off the hatred. - Neeraj Sharma
“Man sacrifices his health in order to make money. Then he sacrifices money to recuperate his health. And then he is so anxious about the future, that he does not enjoy the present moment. As a result, he does not live in the present or the future, he lives as if he is never going to die, and then he dies having never truly lived. - Dalai Lama

Time is PreciousImagine there is a bank, which credits your account each morning with Rs. 86,400, carries over no balance from day to day, allows you to keep no cash balance, and every evening cancels whatever part of the amount you had failed to use during the day. What would you do? Draw out every paisa, of course!Well, everyone has such a bank. Its name is Time.Every morning, it credits you with 86,400 seconds. Every night it writes off, as lost, whatever of this you have failed to invest to good purpose. It carries over no balance. Each day it opens a new account for you. Each night it burns the records of the day. If you fail to use the day's deposits, the loss is yours. There is no drawing against the “tomorrow.” Therefore, there is never 'not enough time' or 'too much time'. Time management is decided by us alone and nobody else. It is never the case of us not having enough time to do things, but the case of whether we want to do it. So, use your time judiciously. It never returns back.
Bhupender 10AIncomplete Journey of FreedomHere is to India, My CountryLong long ago, we were not so free. The golden Bird, as they sayOnce had itself, caged in chains.Eveything was fearful, everyone was in painWe cannot do anythig about this, Some of them said. But some of them had already realized That their fate was not locked, And it was time to open their eyes. Finally they took their weapons, Not bombs or guns, I speakBut truth and peace That's what I believe. They marched forwardNot to the battle groundsBut to peacefully take their rightsWhich were once their own.Now some of you will say Ok! We already know this. But the story that comes after thisYou just can't ignore this.We got our freedomBut at what price you may say.We fought togetherWe marched togetherWe died togetherWe smiled togetherWe got independence together. But look around youWe are no more together.Yes the bird got out of its vageBut with only one wingIt can no more flyNo matter how hard it tries.
So what was all this?Just waste? No, my friendsThe journey has just begun. Our ancestors just made our work easyBut it's still not done yetWe need to show them that We are still here and will always beWe will get that true independence one dayThe one without fear, sadness or dismay. When the bird will again soar highThat will be the dayWhen they will truly smile.

Ankit Phogat 12 AThe Triple-Filter TestIn ancient Greece, Socrates was reputed to hold knowledge in high esteem. One day an acquaintance met the great philosopher and said, “Do you know what I just heard about your friend?”“Hold on a minute,” Socrates replied. “Before you talk to me about my friend, it might be good idea to take a moment and filter what you're going to say. That's why I call it the triple filter test. The first filter is Truth. Have you made absolutely sure that what you are about to tell me is true?”“Well, no,” the man said, “actually I just heard about it and…”“All right,” said Socrates. “So you don't really know if it's true or not. Now, let's try the second filter, the filter of Goodness. Is what you are about to tell me about my friend something good?”“Umm, no, on the contrary…”“So,” Socrates continued, “you want to tell me something bad about my friend, but you're not certain it's true. You may still pass the test though, because there's one filter left—the filter of Usefulness. Is what you want to tell me about my friend going to be useful to me?”“No, not really.”“Well,” concluded Socrates, ”if what you want to tell me is neither true, nor good, nor even useful, why tell it to me at all?” Versha 10A
