- Creative Writing: This course is built on the workshop model used in the University of Oregon’s creative writing program. Comprehensive and rigorous, students write poems, fiction, and narrative nonfiction, submit work for review, and conclude the term by creating a personal magazine.
- Film as Literature: Students learn to analyze visual narratives by watching contemporary and classic films. Students also read essays on film, articles, and a novel.
-Dystopian Literature (Science Fiction): Students read contemporary science fiction stories with a social justice focus, as well as classic stories. We ask questions about intentional and unintentional changes that happen in society and how the stories we tell each other affect what our society becomes.
