Real Farming for Children Church Farm Guided Educational Tours & Talks

for Schools, Nurseries, Clubs and Groups Church Farm covers 175 acres to the south of Ardeley (between Stevenage and Buntingford). Here you will find mixed farming, small fields and intimate diversity of enterprises. Our ambition is to have a farm that produces maximum variety of food, with 50% less fossil fuels from farm to fork. We want to enhance the environment and build community, to treat the land, wildlife and animals as they should be treated and grow great food.

Guided Tours & Talks - duration 1 hour• Jump aboard a Tractor and Trailer for a tour of the farm. Learn about the

farm animals on a traditional mixed farm, feed the pigs and chickens and visit the kitchen garden to see how our animals help grow veg.

• Alternatively, get your wellies on and see the farm by foot.

Interactive Activities - duration 1 hour• Collect Freshly Laid Eggs from the Orchard and learn about our free-range chickens. • Gloves at the ready! Meet the Church Farm Grower and help him with any Sowing,

Planting, Watering, Weeding or Harvesting that needs doing.• Get stuck in and Make Your Own Clay Scuplture from clay dug from our ancient clay pits.

400 years ago the clay was used for making tiles and bricks. What will you choose to make?• Go on a Sketch-a-trek, Scavenger Hunt or Nature Trail around the farm. • Get involved with Seasonal Arts and Crafts using materials found on the farm, including:

Bug Hotel Building, Scarecrow Making, Plant Pot Decorating, Bird House Making, Broomstick Making, Wool Crafts* and much more...

• Sustainable Enterprise - Understand the ethos of the farm and learn about the diverse enterprises that make it work. See the full food cycle and find out more about how the veg and meat from the farm make it into the farm Store, Cafe and Box Scheme.
