Generic Scaffold Safety Training

Course Goal: The course teaches students about the basics of working safely on scaffolds. Students learn about basic assembly requirements; inspection requirements and types of inspection tags; fall hazards; electrical hazards; and safe work practices. Note: The course does not qualify students as scaffold erectors.

Course Objectives:

Recognize basic requirements for the safe assembly of scaffolding.

Identify types of inspection tags and determine if a scaffold has been properly inspected for use.

Determine the intended load-carrying capacity of the scaffold.

Identify fall hazards, falling object hazards, and electrical safety hazards in the work area.

Identify safe work practices associated with the use of scaffolding.

Target Audience:

All workers, utility and supplemental, who perform work on scaffolds.

Developmental Resources:

All content is based on 29 CFR 1926.451(f) and 29 CFR 1926.454(a), Safety and health Regulations for Construction – Scaffolding.
