STAFF AWARD: PROMOTION CLERICAL TO OFFICERS CADRE
(I) PROMOTION FROM CLERICAL TO TRAINEE OFFICER
(i) Eligibility: - All clerical cadre employees (excluding Record Keepers,
Record Keepers-cum-Assistant (Cash) , Godown Keepers, Bill Collectors and
Assistant (Cash) promoted from Subordinate cadre) fulfilling following
eligibility criteria will be eligible to appear for the test for promotion as Trainee
Officer.
(ii) Minimum service: - 3 years (for both General as well as SC/ST employees) as on
1st April of the promotion year.
(iii) Minimum Qualification: - Graduationfrom a recognised university as on 1st
April of the promotion year.
(iv) Upper age limit: - General candidates: not exceeding 40 years, SC/ST
candidates: 45 years as on 1st April of the promotion year.
(v) Number of chances: - There will be 5 chances. A candidate may appear for the
test 5 times or till he reaches the prescribed age limit, whichever is earlier.

The weightage for the written examination is 60. However, the question paper will carry
100 marks, which will be normalised to 60 for preparing the merit list. The number of
questions and marks for each question topic would be as under: -

(vii) Qualifying marks: -
a) Written Test: - Minimum 65% for General candidates and 60% for SC/ST
candidates.
b) Personal Interview: - Minimum 40% for General candidates and 35% for
SC/ST candidates (minimum 8 marks out of 20 for General candidates and 7
marks out of 20 for SC/ST candidates).
(viii) Vacancies: - As sanctioned by Corporate Centre.
(ix) Zone of Selection: - Based on the performance in the written test,
candidates will be called for interview in the ratio of two candidates for every
vacancy in the descending order of merit. This will form the zone of selection.
(x) Probation period after promotion: - Two years
(xi) The Bank may at its discretion, subject to the merits and suitability of a Trainee
Officer for future Leadership role, being determined through a screening process
to be prescribed by the Central Human Resources committee may confirm and
give placement (fitment) for such officers in MMGS - II.
(II) PROMOTION FROM CLERICAL TO JMGS-I MERIT CHANNEL
(i) Eligibility: - All clerical cadre employees (excluding Record Keepers, Record
Keepers-cum-Assistant (Cash), Godown Keepers, Bill Collectors and Assistant
(Cash)s promoted from Subordinate cadre) fulfilling following eligibility criteria

will be eligible to appear for the test for promotion to JMGS I under the merit
channel.
(ii) Minimum service: - 6 years (for both General as well as SC/ST employees) as on
1st April of the promotion year.
(iii) Minimum Qualification: - Matriculation (10th standard pass from a recognized
Board) as on 1st April of the promotion year.
(iv) Upper age limit: - General candidates: not exceeding 45 years, SC/ST
candidates:50 years as on 1st April of the promotion year.
(v) Number of chances: - There will be 6 chances. A candidate may appear for the
test 6 times or till he reaches the prescribed age limit, whichever is earlier.

Normal-cum- Seniority channel in the same promotion year.
(ix) Zone of Selection :-Based on the performance in the written test,
candidates will be called for interview in the ratio of 2 candidates for every
vacancy in the descending order of merit. This will form the zone of selection.
(x) Probation period after promotion :- one year
(III) PROMOTION FROM CLERICAL TO JMGSINORMAL-CUM-SENIORITY
CHANNEL
(i) Eligibility :- All clerical cadre employees (excluding Record Keepers, Record
Keepers-cum-Assistant (Cash)s, Godown Keepers, Bill Collectors and Assistant
(Cash)s promoted from Subordinate cadre) fulfilling following eligibility criteria
will be eligible to appear for the test for promotion to JMGS I under the normal
cum-seniority channel.
(ii) Minimum service :- 12 years (for both General as well as SC/ST employees) as
on 1st April of the promotion year.
(iii) Minimum Qualification :- Matriculation (10th standard pass from a recognized
Board) as on 1st April of the promotion year.
(iv) Upper age limit :- General candidates and SC/ST candidates : should not
be more than 55 years and 57 years respectively as on 1st April of the

(v) Number of chances :- A candidate may appear for the test till he/she reaches
the upper age limit.

systems for pursuing courses related to Banking and related business areas.
JAIIB / CAIIB EXAMINATIONS
For any banker, JAIIB & CAIIB examinations are considered to be the best qualifications in
the industry. The Indian Institute of Banking and Finance conducts various examinations
on subjects in Banking and finance sectors and awards diplomas and certificates to the

successful candidates. Employees have to enroll as members of the institute to be eligible
to appear for the examinations. An employee should enroll with IIBF, as early as possible. Page I 9
Eligibility: Membership is open to the employees of recognised banking establishment or financial institutions that are operating in India or in any other country and other institutions providing financial services in India as may be approved by the Council of IIBF from time to time Ordinary members are admitted by the Chief Executive Officer in accordance with rules prescribed from time to time. Presently, Shri O. P. Bhatt, Chairman, SBI is the president of the Governing Council of IIBF.
Fee: One Time Life Membership Fee for Ordinary Membership is Rs.1500/-
for the applicants from India. For Overseas applicants, the fee is US $150/-.
Application form: For application form, the applicant may download
Ordinary Membership Application Form from IIBF website or write to the concerned
Zonal/Corporate Office of IIBF. A copy of the application form is provided at the end of this
topic. Applicants should forward their applications for Ordinary Membership,
in the prescribed format, duly completed in all respects, together with the requisite fee,
to the concerned Zonal Office of the IIBF which cover the place of work of the applicant.
Overseas Members may send their application form to the Corporate Office of IIBF.
Associate Examination (JAIIB / CAIIB) : The Associate Examination has been divided
into two parts viz., JAIIB and CAIIB. The members can pass CAIIB only after passing JAIIB.
The institute grants exemptions for subjects to those who possesses certain
qualifications specified by the institute. For details, syllabus and schedules of
examination, readers may refer to the official website of IIBF available either on internet
or intranet through useful links of SBI Times.
INCENTIVES FOR SBI EMPLOYEES ON COMPLETION OF JAIIB/CAIIB
On successful completion of JAIIB, the employee is eligible for one increment as
applicable in that scale.
On completion of CAIIB, the employee is eligible for 2 (two) increments in that scale.
A clerical employee who completed CAIIB is eligible for 10 marks when appearing for
Trainee Officers Examination.

Training System Our Bank is continuously engaged in skill enhancement of its employees. The trainings
corporate vertical Strategic Training Unit is headed by CGM (STU-Head), with head
quarters in State Bank Staff College Premises, Hyderabad.
ATIs (Apex Training Institutes)
Under STU, we have 4 ATIs (Apex Training Institutes) namely State Bank
Academy, Gurgaon, State Bank Staff college, Hyderabad, State Bank Institute of Rural
Development, Hyderabad and State Bank Institute for Information and
Communication Management, Hyderabad; each ATI headed by an official of the rank of
General Manager. Some of the training programmes hosted by training system of our
bank are attended by bankers from other banks within India & foreign countries.
State Bank Learning Centres
We also have 48 SBLCs (State Bank Learning Centres) well spread all over the country, catering to the training needs of the bank.
The training system in our bank impart training to around 1,50,000 employees annually. It
is understood that Employees who have got the in-depth knowledge required for their job
responsibility will be able to address customers needs in a more refined
manner. Successful handling of job requirements would make a great career.
e-learning- Gyanodaya
To plug the gaps and to make training available to larger number of employees without
disturbing them from their work environment, e-learning initiative has been taken, with
the name of Gyanodaya. Large number of e-courses on varied banking subjects like Audit,
BPR, Behavioural Science, Credit, IB, Rural banking, IT, Marketing, General banking
are available online. For using the e-Learning portal each employee has to first register
on HRMS portal. After registration the e-Courses can be accessed either from office/
home/ Internet caf using Intranet or Internet using the site address
https://hrms.onlinesbi.com/irj/portal . FAQs, other tips, required software and Step-by-
step guide are available on the portals login page. Incentives in the form of Recognition,
Monetary rewards and placements etc. are in offing.
Note: All the newly recruited clerical staff are advised to undergo a series of sets of e-
courses during their probation period. This is mandatory. The list of identified mandatory

STAFF SUGGESTION SCHEME We at SBI value Suggestions
(Rationale : 1. To share corporate concern with our people and provide them with an
avenue to share their views with a sense of involvement and in the process, motivate them
in finding appropriate solution to resolve the Bank's corporate concerns on an ongoing
basis. 2. To increase the participation of staff in the scheme and to mobilize
their creativity for organisational excellence.)
If we want to give suggestions, we can forward the same through SBITIMES.
While submitting suggestions we should observe that:
1) It is a meaningful proposal and not a simple statement of a problem without offering
a constructive solution, and is not related to issues such an increase
in staff allowances/perks/amenities etc.
2) Suggestions for correcting an obvious error or lacuna in the existing
arrangement/form/register, cosmetic changes in CBS screens etc. will
only be considered only for the initial reward.
While submitting the suggestion we should give our account number, address, e-
mail address etc. There will be a reward for each suggestion submitted and accepted.
There will be no reward for the suggestions falling in category if it is considered irrelevant
/ not up to the mark or unrelated to the areas specified above:
I. A reward of Rs. 500/- for each suggestion falling if it is considered relevant but not
suitable for further evaluation at LHO / Corporate Centre level.
II. A reward of Rs.20000/- for each suggestion finally accepted at Corporate Centre
level.
III. Three best suggestions at whole Bank level will be identified as 1st, 2nd and 3rd
depending upon the quantum of benefit accruing to the Bank out of the accepted
suggestions, and will be awarded Rs.50,000/-, Rs.45,000/- and
Rs.40,000/- respectively.
Suggestions of the following nature will not be considered for the reward:

Vague proposals or a simple statement of a problem without offering a constructive
solution.
Frivolous suggestions
Suggestions which are similar to the ones already under consideration of the bank
on its own accord or on the basis of the suggestion already received.
Same suggestions submitted second/ third / multiple times by the same person,
Suggestions relate to individual/ personal issues like increase in salary, allowances and
other issue which are of bilateral nature etc.
Suggestions for correcting an obvious error or lacuna in the existing
arrangement/form/register, cosmetic changes in CBS screens will be considered
for an initial reward of Rs 500/- only and not rank for further evaluation by the Staff
Suggestion Screening Committee. The following types of suggestions are eligible for
evaluation by Staff Suggestion Screening Committee as under:
Innovative suggestions reflecting originality in idea.
Practicable and capable of being implemented,
It should bring in benefit to the bank in the listed core concerns/ subject matter
listed in the scheme.
Suggestion should have clarity of thought and easy to understand.
