Definition The SAMR model is a model for

technology integration into the classroom

It is presumed to help teachers make a better leverage of technology in their teaching

It consists of four levels SAMR was designed by Dr. Ruben

Puentedura, Ph.D

Level 1 - Substitution Using technology to

replace/substitute for paper and pencil

Could also be to replace a familiar technology with a new one that performs the same task

Level 2 - Augmentation Similar to the substitution level, but

this time with added functionalities to improve student work

Level 3 - Modification Technology is being used more

effectively than levels 1 and 2 Students are now using technology to

redesign new parts of the learning task

Students learning is transformed

Level 4 - Redefinition Students use technology to create

new tasks that would not have been conceivable in the past

When technology is used in this way it leads to the transformation of classroom and student workflows and the technology is used in its most effective form
