SAINT JORDI
Raquel Ortega & Aina Gutiérrez
Sant Jordi is the catalan form of Saint George and it’s celebrated the 23rd April.
Sant Jordi is the patron saint of Catalonia, that’s why it is such an important day here
It’s a tradition to give a rose to the girl you are in love and to give a book to the boy you are in love with. Why is that? We give a rose because on the legend of Saint Jordi a rose bush grew from the dragon’s blood and the knigth gave it to the princess. And we give a book to the boys to commemorate Shakespeare and Cervantes’ death. It’s The Book Day.
Shakespeare Cervantes
Wherever you go you can feel the special atmosphere of the streets. There are rose and book stalls, authors signing their books and differents kinds of performances.
HAVE A NICE SAINT JORDI!
