Cross indicates the person is deceased. No cross the person is alive.
Reflection Jerusalem, the people of God, the jugs of water, our old human condition, things which can appear disposable are still
so precious to the Mother God who keeps sending us the new four major food groups, Jesus, the Sacraments, our
personal selves and those to whom God sends us to nourish and through whom to be nourished.
Jesus is still changing old water into new wine.
“You have prepared a table before me, and how precious is the chalice that quenches my thirst.”

Our Catholic Appeal—February 17, 2019
Our Catholic Appeal is an annual opportunity for every
member of our faith family to share in the pastoral work
of Christ by funding the important programs and
ministries of the Diocese of Orlando. This critical
operating support enables the Diocese to provide our
people, parishes and schools with a wide variety of
essential services that change lives –and souls.
Ms. Erin Koch, Grade 3 Teacher, is Teacher Eagle of the Month
Miss Koch is Sacred Heart Catholic School’s recipient of the monthly teacher recognition award “Teacher Eagle of the Month.” Miss Koch has been teaching 3rd grade in the school for two years now and has been an inspiring educator. In her quiet grace, she is known as a strong supporter of the poor and an inspiration to many students as well as her colleagues. Aside from teaching, Miss Koch also serves as an Extraordinary Minister of the Holy Communion at Sacred Heart Church.
Sacred Heart Catholic School Faculty and Staff brought good cheers to the elderly
The faculty and staff of Sacred Heart School visited Fairgreen Assisted Living Facility on Wayne Ave for the school’s annual Christmas Charity Project on Wednesday, December 19, 2018. Together, they sang songs, distributed shoeboxes of joy donated by preK thru 5th grade students and Cups of Love put together by 8th grade Bridgett L., and talked to every resident in the assisted living facility. The school, in its pledge to support the elderly, promised to visit and care for them on a regular basis. The care packs contained cups, treats, fuzzy socks, coloring books, toiletries and many more.
Fairgreen’s owner, Sue Kepler, promised
to accommodate Sacred Heart and
allow the faculty, staff to bring joy to the
elderly at Christmas.
Sacrament of Confirmation News—Candidates and Sponsors’ Meeting : A successful gathering
Candidates for the Sacrament of Confirmation together with their sponsors gathered together in the Knights Hall on Wednesday, December 12, 2018 and attended one of the most popular sacramental preparation sessions on the “Gifts and Fruits of the Holy Spirit” facilitated by Mrs. Leigh Svajko, principal of Father Lopez Catholic High School.
The candidates had a good time reviewing the gifts and fruits of the Holy Spirit and played a game called “Password” with their sponsors. It was a beautiful evening of learning and fun with the Confirmandis, and a chance for them to know their sponsors a little bit more.
The Legion of Mary Free Library –Will be out in front of Church at Sacred Heart

ALUMINUM POP TAB COLLECTION
God the Father has blessed us with another New Year reminding us of the
many families with critically ill children needing our help. Hopefully you've saved all those POP TABS from the
holiday celebrations just ended to add to the collection that will be recycled into
cash on Earth Day. The cash will help off-set the cost for temporary housing provided by Ronald McDonalds houses in Orlando for those families with
critically ill children, receiving medical care at the children's hospitals in Orlando. So, bring those bags full
of POP TABS to church and fill the collection basket in the vestibule.
Thank you and God Bless
Louella (“Lou”) Selzer recalls the many Priests she has known over the years attending Sacred Heart and St. Gerard churches. She and her husband, John were regulars at the Saturday 4:30 Mass. Even though Lou cannot make it to her preferred seat - second row, left of center, she is still very much a participating member of St. Gerard.
Every Saturday, she and her homebound minister share current
events, scripture and the Eucharist. Lou even shared a piece of her birthday cake recently. Her pal “Bandit” is also eager to greet and entertain. Keeping in touch with Lou, she is in
our thoughts and prayers. May all of us who share in the body and blood of Christ be brought together in unity by
the Holy Spirit.

ST. VINCENT'S CORNER
Note From the President of our Conference— Trish Degen I started my term as President October 1, 2018 and I am a novice to the conference. I am relying on everyone at the conference to help me help others in need. So with saying that, I would like to thank all the parishioners that help make Saint Vincent de Paul run smoothly. Without the parishioners and volunteers
giving of their time and talents, we would not be able to help our neighbors in need.
How You Help Us Help Others: A home visitation team was making a delivery to a family in need , her neighbor came out to say that she is raising her three grandchildren and her food stamps are only $134 a month. She was so grate-ful when we gave her our phone number for help. Thanks to your generosity, we were able to help her and her grandchil-dren. The month of November our parishioners donated $4526.21 and we were able to help 515 people with groceries, 13 families with electric assistance, and 71 individuals that received prescriptions, gas, tent, propane, or bus passes.
Food Pantry Need of the Week: Peanut butter and volunteers, Please help support our mission.
Next Meeting-Join Us! You're invited to be part of our gathering Tuesday February 12, 2019 at 6:30 pm at Sacred Heart Social Hall behind the church.

“There are different gifts but the same Spirit, there are different ministries but the
same Lord . . . To each person the manifestation of the spirit is given for the
common good.” Every person is called to contribute to the liturgy in a manner suited to his or her unique talents. It takes the help of many people serving in a variety of different liturgical ministries to help the liturgy flow smoothly and enable the participation of the assembly. At the present time, there is a serious need for volunteers in all ministries at St. Gerard’s. We invite you to prayerfully reflect on the gifts God has given you and consider volunteering your talents for one of our ministries.
Training: Training is provided to help you get started in all the listed ministries.
Scheduling: Liturgical ministers are scheduled at the Mass time of their preference as often as fits their schedule and are asked to arrive 30 minutes before their scheduled Mass begins.
Contact: Please see the list of ministries below. Call the leader of the ministry you are interested in to volunteer or for further information.
