The Southern Oalifornia Coalition on Battered Women
The Southern California Coalition on Battered Women, formed in 1976, is a tax-exempt, nor.-profit, membership organization whose major purpose is to facilitate communication and the exchange of information among service providers working with victims of domestic violence in Southern California, Among its members are shellers, hotlines, mental , health centers, hospitals, medical clinics, law enforcement agencies, local and state legislators, and representatives from several minority and women's organizations, With organizations and interested individuals numbering over 250 as members, the Coalition represents a wide range of expertise and interest in the problems of domestic violence.
The Southern ~Iifornia Coalition on Battered Women: .
• provides volunteer and staff training to agencies providing services to battered women and their famifies
• provides training, technical assistance, and consultation to traditional and nontraditional service providers in over 20 subject areas
• publishes a monthly newsletter with up-to-dale information on legislation, new resources, new written and audio-visual materials, and current exents
• provides preventive education to the community through presentations and conferences
• compiles and disseminates information on domestic violence, including publication of a women's survival card
• provides information and referral services to battered women, and to community organizations
• provides a mechanism for organizations serving victims of domestic violence to work cooperatively

Participation in the Southern California Coalition on Battered Women provides a means for those of us concerned about domestic violence to work together to addre::;s common concerns. •
There are several membership categories designed to meet the varying need§ of our members. All SC/CBW members receive a monthly newsletter and discounts at SC/CBW sponsored conferences, and vote at annual membership meetings.
