Youth Advisory Board

Rusk County is looking for smart young men and women to serve on its youth board. This board serves the entire county and assists the 4-H agent with educational planning for local school districts and the county programs offered through Texas A&M AgriLife Extension. If you know anyone who would make a great youth board member if you would please notify me by either phone or email I would really appreciate it.

Qualifications:

· Does not have to be a 4-H member just a member of Rusk county

· Is 11 or older

· Wants to make a difference in their community

· Has a heart for serving others in their area

· Wants to see youth empowered/or wants to be an empowered youth

· Has the ability to make quarterly or biyearly meetings for the board

· Wants to serve

· Has ideas for new things in the community service idea

Contest Rules 1. The salsa must be homemade (sweet, sour, hot or mild, fruit base, tomato base, etc.). 2. A recipe must be submitted. 3. Salsa must be submitted for a taste-test judging. 4. Salsa will be judged on taste and appearance. 5. Recipe will not be returned and may be used in a Cinco de Mayo Salsa recipe book in the future. 6. Scoring will based on taste, originality, appearance and presentation.

Why is it important you keep a record of your 4-H activities? Because, by recording your activities you can remember all the fun you’ve had so far, and set future goals! Keeping records of 4-H projects could help you when you apply for college scholarships too! 4-H Recordbooks are books you make to record your annual projects. The “At a Glance Guide” will help you organize your Recordbook. Find out more in the “Family Guide To Recordbooks” and Recordbook Categories.

Finished Recordbooks will be submitted for the county contest and those 1st place books will continue to the district level in July.

Specific Categories Depending on your age group you will fall into the Junior, Intermediate, or Senior category for the Recordbooks. As you progress to the next age group, you will keep your previous year’s report forms and keep adding new ones each year.

The Rusk County 4-H will be holding a supply drive to benefit the Henderson Animal Shelter. We are asking 4-H members to donate paper towels, Pine-sol, bleach, newspapers, blue dawn soap, Febreze, dog/cat food, cat litter, money, Clorox wipes throughout the month of May. on creating props and practiced "blocking" for their skits as the date approached for the district 4-H roundup competition.
