from carbonless sets, pads and books
through to insert mailer applications,
unusual formats such as waterproof
synthetic FPNs with doubled-sided tape
applied and thermally-imaged products.
Approximately 90 per cent of enforcement
documents require encoding to the MDIS

requirements. Encoded check-digit styles
are available in various formats, fonts and
orientations.
Numbering styles can range from a basic
‘arabic’ number to those suitable for
automated computer input – OCRB-1 and

Mission-critical documents from ROTASET are printed and
encoded to the highest standards, using expertise gained over
twenty-five years in modulus numbering.
ncodingM odulus or Check Digit numbering is
yet another security feature that we
can apply to forms and documents - both
in continuous and cut-set format.
The basic serial number of a document
has a prescribed algorithm or formula
applied to it in both the numbering process
and also in the users' Data Processing
department. According to the complexity of
the algorithm applied to the base number
so varying degrees of security of data
entry can be achieved when keying-in data
from forms in use in an organisation.
By using modulus numbering you can make
savings in input times and re-checking of
data and identify keying-in errors such as
transpositions or mis-keyed entries.
The options available include simple un-
weighted number systems to complex,
weighted, multiple check-digit systems.
In addition, these can be incorporated
using our range of shuttle-matrix, impact,
inkjet and laser printers into barcodes and
JUMBO numbers as well to give a real 'belt
and braces job'!
This is a very complex subject and we will
be pleased to discuss your specific
requirements for the incorporation of
modulus numbering and barcoding. Call
us now on 01507 472473 or email

W hy do we design just one message
for all of our customers, and then
print and distribute thousands of copies?
Surely we could achieve greater results if
we designed the message with each
customer in mind — individually,
personally. But until recently the only
technology available for quality colour
printing was the offset press, and that
meant printing the same message for
everyone.
Historically the economics of publishing
have always favoured mass delivery.
Trying to reach the masses, our message
is often so bland and general that it
passes through the marketplace without
really being noticed.
There are three parts in the term digital
colour printing: “digital,” “colour” and
“printing”— but “digital” is the most
important. The process is entirely digital.
The document is created on a computer.
From there the file is digitally transmitted
directly to the press. Because our presses
are digitally-driven, the data can be
customised. It can vary from print to print,
just as fast as the printing system can
image it. ROTASET’s digital printing
systems image up to 70 different A4
pages per minute. That's a key
differentiator from offset presses, which
are designed to handle only one original
document at a time. The trade-off is in
cost per impression. Unit costs are higher
Within ROTASET’s digital colour printing division, we have the
tools available that let us create individualised marketing
messages.

on digital colour presses, so it’s important
to consider the added value and greater
impact of customisation.
Wouldn’t it be great if you could
speak to each person?
Just think about what this can mean to you
and your company. You can speak to each
person differently; you can treat each
customer like the individual he or she is.
Instead of feeling like they’re anonymous
and faceless, they’ll feel like you
understand what it is that makes them
special to your company, why it is that you
value their business. Instead of your
company broadcasting to the masses, you
become one supplier talking to one
customer. It’s a revolutionary change.
Call us now on 01507 472473 or email us
at info@rotaset.co.uk, and ask for our
publication ‘Printing for an Audience of
One’. We’ll change the way you think
about print communication and show you
how variable data printing creates the
unique opportunity to produce personalised
print materials for an audience of a single
person.

“. . . just a quick note of congratulations on your September issue of Business Forum. Despite receiving literally
hundreds of newsletters every year – the majority of which being merely scanned through or even discarded
before opening – this was the first for a long time that actually encouraged a break in our schedule to read from
front to back. Very well laid out, nicely presented (and of course printed) with great content and a high degree
of personalisation (20+ entries) not to mention the surprisingly discreet albeit effective inclusion of over 15
references to ROTASET the newsletter demonstrated perfectly the positive focus of personalised direct mail. We
take our hats off to you!”
