FEBRUARY 26th Meeting Recap Martin Bernal quoted a John Wesley passage called “For Love.” It was spot-on and well received. We had one noteworthy young guest who was Peter Cook’s daughter. The exempt drawing was won by President Annie but immediately gifted to Jan Derecho. What happened to the “re-draw?” Michelle Costa and Christian Gonzales both received their Blue Badges today. To quote Annie, “Totally Awesome!” Jill Stone won the drawing provided by Jan Derecho. It was a beautiful bottle of Pinot Noir, two Symphony tickets and a gift certificate to Café Mare. Good judgement comes from experience, and a lot of that comes from bad judgement. Wally Walker Wes Walker and Jim Bargetto provided a short power point presentation entitled “Where Does Our Rotary Money Go?” The Four Pillars of Rotary as are follows:

1. Rotary International Fund

2. The Rotary Club of Santa Cruz 3. The SC Rotary Scholarship

Endowment 4. The SC Community Fund

Tom Canfield was our Detective for the

day. In spite of being sprayed with ectoplasm by Z MAN, Tom made a near perfect

presentation. Each Rotarian was given personal recognition for a lame and unfair fine. One notable Happy $ (grande) was a C Note from Michelle

Costa! Jim Bargetto was spanked for trying to exempt himself from the rules the rest of us follow. Stoney Brook’s wife, Beverly, has become an ordained minister after eight years of study. If you are the owner of a BMW M4 with license plate 007VN, please identify yourself to the Detective today. Health nuts are going to feel stupid someday, lying in the hospitals dying of nothing. Dr. Arthur Schwartz

Our Program: JAY MORIARTY FOUNDATION & JAY RACE Larry Wallerstein, you should have been there …

Kim Moriarty Wildey provided a compelling program inspired by her late husband Jay’s short but

inspirational life. The Jay Race and the Foundation provide funds for a wide range of local charities. It was an emotional presentation which was well received by Rotarians. Annie Asche confessed to finding inspiration in CHASING MAVERICKS, the movie. Al Smith thinks it might be a Gerard Butler (actor) fetish of Annie’s. But who cares as long as Annie is inspired! ROTARY ROUND-UP MAY 18th Make your reservation today! Did we mention Free Drinks? TONIGHT is ROTARY NIGHT at the WARRIORS! If you are owner of a red Porsche with the license plate “Assets” please identify yourself to the detective today.
