Purpose and Scope
The Bicycle and Pedestrian Master Plan will address the following:
Consider needs of Roswell residents and visitors
Create a connected set of trails and biking and walking routes
Provide non-motorized access to major destinations
Schools, transit, parks, Recreational and Aquatic Center, etc.
Identify routes and potential designs for bikeways across the City
Plan Benefits
Enhanced quality of life
Improved safety and public health
Increased transportation options and recreational
opportunities
Economic benefits associated with walking and
bicycle infrastructure
Access to employment, education, and services
Recreational travel/tourism

Statewide network - US and NM highways
Priority tier designations
Tier 1: US 70, US 380
Tier 2: NM 256, parts of NM 246
Design guidelines
Minimum 5’ bike lanes for Tier 1
Tier reflects desired quality of infrastructure;
not priority for implementation
Implementation to occur during regularly scheduled reconstruction and rehabilitation
