Report on Syllabi Revision for session 2019-20 The existing courses have been rationalised with the purpose to enhance self learning by the students and also to reorient the class room teaching and experience learning in different PG & UG programmes. For this purpose a committee was constituted by the Vice chancellor which studied the course plans of the different universities namely HPU, Central University of Himachal Pradesh and some other Universities keeping in view the guidelines of the University CGrants Commission besides necds of the students and industry. This University has adopted choice based credit system (CBCS) which is at par with many other universities However. the total credit load and classification of the courses have been modified with following new
feature:
School of Basic and Applied Sciences
The course scheme of PG Programme has been revised and total credits reduced to 80 credits from existing that ranged from 90 to 98. This is uniform across all the discipline. The course scheme of PG programmes will be in two modes: Thesis Mode and Project/ Dissertation Mode. Human Making and Skill DevelopmentCourses are also introduced to enhance the inter-disciplinary knowledge of the students. A special programme PRAGTI (Program for ddvanced Growth and Training of lntern) is introduced in all the departments of the different Schools. In case of UG programmes the syllabi and course structure is followed as defined by UGC with minor modifications.
School of Engineering & Technology
To orient PG students towards real time situation and industrial needs, minimum thesis credits have been fixed 22 out of total 60 credits. In order to meet the contemporary requirements of the industry courses on Intellectual Property Right, Urban and Rural Planning besides self learning have been included for all streams in engineering. In case of UG the course structure has been revised by studied the course plans of the different leading institutes at national level and keeping in view the industry needs.
School of Commerce and Management
The total credit load of MBA programme has been reduced from 108 to 80 credits for those opting Degree project mode and 85 in dissertation mode. Digital Marketing will be offered to the students as specialization in MBA. PRAGTI programme will be offered in each semester for professional development of students. In BBA &B.Com, the syllabi have been revised as per UGC guidelines with minor changes.
The revised course structure & syllabi will be implemented rom session 2019-20.

This report is prepared and submitted by the committee constituted for reviewing and updating Policy Document of Internal Quality Assurance Cell (1QAC) of the University. The committee has received many valuable inputs and suggestions from various stakeholders of the University
in meetings, talks and discussions made.

21. Intermal audits will be carricd out annually in each department/ division.
22. To ensure the eftfective implementation of quality initiatives taken from time to time by
IQAC through periodic monitoring, reviews and audits. Corrective actions will be issued

V.Quality system and proeedure to implement quality policy
University administration is committed to implement the quality policy in association
with other stakeholders through Internal Quality Assurance Cell. Internal Quality
Assurance cell (1QAC) will be responsible to develop, implement, monitor, review and
find opportunities to continuously improve the Quality System implemented by cach
department/ division/ centers.
The constitution of 1QAC, its goals, roles &functions shall be as per the guidelines of
UGC framed time to time. The IQAC shall meet at least twice in a semester. The
quorum for the meeting shall be two-third of the total number of members. The agenda.
minutes and Action Taken Reports are to be documented with official signatures and
maintained electronically in a retrievable format.
1. Quality Circles
1.1 Each department/division/center shall implement quality policy through quality
circle (QC). Each QC will be headed by Head of Department (HOD) as converner and a
minimum of 2 members. An external expert on quality management may also be
nominated as member of QC.
1.2 Schools with limited number of faculty in their departments may have one Quality
circle to support their smaller departments.
1.3 QC members to be nominated by the concemed deans/directors on the
recommendation of head of department for a period of minimum 2 years.
1.4 Each QC will send their nominee to 1QAC for quarterly meetings as invitees to
provide their inputs towards improving quality system.
VI. Improving Quality System and Goals - Roles & Responsibilities
1. Quality Students 1.1 To ensure the steady increase in enrollment of quality students, head of
admission cell shall be responsible for the same and report the matter to 1QAC on
yearly basis.
1.1.2 Quality students shall be encouraged for advanced learning, additional professional certifications through online platforms etc. Quality circles and mentors shall be responsible for nurturing of these students.
2.Quality Faeulty 2.1 Appointment and promotion of faculty shall be as per UGC norms. The University will endeavor to attract talented faculty with passion for teaching and research.
2.2 To promote research and innovation, preference shall be given to a Ph.D. qualified degree holder with quality research during appointments. 2.3 Regular workshops, seminars, conferences and faculty development programs shall be common and mandatory for constant upgradation of faculty.
3. Curriculum and course contents:
3.1 Updation of course curriculum from time to time at school/departmental level by the concerned board of studies as per the contemporary needs of the market
and employers is compulsory.
4. Academic Infrastructure
4.1 To ensure optimum utilization of academic and research infrastructure.
4.2. To develop and maintain academic infrastructure as per the requirements of
study programs besides regulatory/ statutory bodies.
4.3 Continuous improvement of classrooms, labs, libraries etc. by integrating
information and communication technology.
4.4 Promotion of eco-friendly and green practices to develop infrastructure.
4.5 Dean (academic affairs), Registrar shall be responsible for the utilization
development and maintenance of infrastructure.
5. Quality of Teaching-Learning Process
5.1 Each department shall be responsible to implement processes for
effective pedagogy towards students' satisfaction. Feedback from the
students is taken on effectiveness of teaching-learning process.
5.2 Experiential learning shall be encouraged through active participation
of students and teachers in extension activities through community
development cell.
6. Assessment and Evaluation process 6.1 Each department in coordination with the Controller of Examination (COE) shall assess the students learning as per examination manual. 6.2 Transparency in evaluation system shall be ascertained by the Controller of Examination.
VIl. Quality Policy and Goals - Accountability Procedure 1.1 Reports including status/ action taken report of quality initiatives shall be prepared by quality circles and submitted to IQAC. Further, 1QAC shall submit the compiled report to academic council for information.
